I am ashamed to say, I had no idea that a druid would get a pet !

Can someone tell me exactly what this lil guy will do for me ? Does he fight ?? hehe

He's max level 27, hits for max of ~30, bashes for 11. Has about 400 hp unbuffed, so dies to a riposte or two. =) Woe betide the Booboo in melee when enrage happens.

I use him for farming (faction or trade drops), fun, and he's the guild mascot. In fights, he adds about 6dps or so with Savage Spirit.

He also (with the Sand Eroded Shell clickie) makes an excellent DS timer for my MA whether I have him attack or not.

wow...

I don't understand why we would be given a pet that is so lame at an advanced level. *shrugs*

Thanks for the info though !

Your first step is complete... your path has begun. Soon you will join us on the Bitter Side. :)

I used to use BooBoo when 2-boxing my monk/druid in Burning Woods. He's a free DoT as long as the monk can keep the agro, which wasn't a problem usually. Just make sure to park BooBoo behind the giant so ripostes aren't a problem :)

I have been bitter..I just haven't openly admitted I have a problem. This is the first step to full blown anger. *grin*

It just seems very silly to give us a pet at that level that is pretty much eye candy. For the love of Tunare !! Give us a pet that will at least matter.

ok..finished ranting.

hehe

Sometimes certain mobs can be tricked into wasting their deathtouch on booboo. One Spiroc Lord used deathtouch on my pet two out of four times. :)

They don't seem to be able to take initial deathtouches...maybe it's only after the bear has a successful taunt, or something?

It's taunt won't work on anything higher level than itself.

Are you sure? NPC taunt may behave differently than PC taunt.

I can't think of any other explanation for why my pet ate the second deathtouch of the fight. Our only death at that point had been from the person who ate the initial deathtouch.

Well, never seen a bearpet pull agro in an XP group when I accidently left taunt on...

Dunno. Don't see many DTs but they seem to go to the top agro at the time. Sounds like a bug or some weird timing like a memblur or the mob being rooted.

I've taken to leaving Booboo's taunt ON most of the time. It feels like I get "pet aggro" (mob hits me when I /pet attack) less often if I let him taunt.

That doesn't happen very often since I got a horse, so it was probably sit aggro more than anything, but I still leave it on. Since my messages file makes him say "Gettin' jiggy with it, Boss" every time he taunts, I can't bear to turn it off. No pun intended.

Best part about Booboo?

He keeps me company. When a /w lists 1 person in zone its comforting to have Booboo watching my every move like a hawk.

Plus if you keep SLN on him he can take a few hits. And sometime thats all the time you need to get a gate off. ;)

The "rules" about pet (cast and charmed) agro during melee are that if ANY player character is also involved in melee, that PC will get agro.

Pet taunting is so you can NOT melee (stop or don't attack) and back up, and the mob will turn to attack the taunting pet. This is vital for folks like mages, with no snare/root abilities. Turning off taunt is vital for folks who agro kite.
