In the past I've read that you keep your abilities like Defense, Offense, melee skills etc, as long as you don't drop more than 2 levels. I have no idea how true this is and have no desire to test it out.

I am wondering what happens with PoP AA abilities that are level based. This doesn't just include the AAs I suppose, but also the +5 max to stats each level.

The reason I'm asking is that I REALLY don't want to be level 61 yet, but I'd also REALLY like to get Enlightenment and SoW. Can I get the AA points I need at 60, ding 61, get my AA abilities, jump off a bridge or tank a god and go back to 100% AA? Can I still use the new abilities? Maybe more importantly if I can't and reding 61, do I still have the AA and is it reactivated?

Thanx,

Littlun.

From what I believe this question came up with the refund they did recently.

If it is an activated ability then yes you will deffinitely need the requirements as it checks them each time you use it. I'm not sure how the passive abilities work, but they most probably check each time you login and zone to see if you fit the requirements.

Example being Shamans needed Mental Clarity(MC) 3 to get their class skill Cannabilize, when Verant refunded MC points shaman could not use the Cannabilize skill until they had respent them in MC and had gone to level 3 again.

I guess my question would be if I get Spirit of the Wood 2 at level 63 and go back to level 62, when I use it does it act as a SotW1 or SotW2? I'd guess no becuase of the previous example.

Just an addition, you can think of AA skills more like spells than skills. When you delevel you can't use spells unless they are of your level or lower.

So for melee classes - deleveling is a good thing.

For caster classes - deleveling is a bad thing.

Oh, well, it was a plan. Back to the drawing board. lol.

Deleveling for melees was a good thing on PvP servers if the person wanted to be a griefer. Not for AAs for melee or caster I don't think. Too very different things, and the cap on higher def and weapon skills helped to fix that somewhat. :)

I'm currently running with 3 points in General (spent refunded regen points on exodus), I have SCM 2 and SCF 2 which are passive abilities. I'm pretty sure they still function as I've seen crits (still rare with scf 2) so I'm hoping SCM 2 is also working. I don't plan on putting more points into Class until I have SotW, RC, MGB and DC, after those I will get SCM 3 which will also require me to put(waste) 3 back in to General again.

OK, I dinged 61 soon after PoP was released. I have put AA pts into Innate Run 3, Innate Sta 3,Innate Wis 3, SCR 1, MC 1, and Planer Power 1. Since then, I have been leveling in Kunark with my husband since he is still working on 60 and exp is still better in small grps working on AA...everything was damn near light blue, so I suicided and didn't get a rez...so back to 60. I lost any of my planer power abilities that come uncapped at 61...WISDOM is what I noticed the most...was at 265 wis, now at 255 again. Well...time to reding 61!! :D

What I did until I committed to levelling up was keep my normal xp at 99% in 60 for casual solo play. Then, at night, when I grouped with friends in PoP, I'd level up to 61 on the first fight or two, so I could buy, mem, and/or use the 61 AA's and spells I had. I'd then put my xp back to AA for the rest of the night. At the end of the night, I'd die a time or two and take a 90% rez to get back to 60 for the next day's soloing for AA's. Worked great! :)

Now that my group of friends and I have made it to tier 2 planes and I have a few spells, I've committed to levelling up with them. So no more AA's for me for awhile.

Redinged 61 lastnight to get my Planer Power Stats back, I have turned off my AA exp and now time to get 65 before more AA pts. Maybe a point or two in between levels, but mostly going for regular exp. Now if I could just get through those damn trials.
