Unfortunately it is counted towards the maximum. Plenty of testing has been done to check this. That's the main reason Magelo counts it towards the cap. Without spending a fair amount of time looking I cant point to the posts so you'll have to take my and Magelo's word for it :)

It's not so much a FT cap as a "Worn Mana Regen" cap, any effects that give hp/mana regen innately (without having to click them) are capped. Mana is capped at 15 and hp at 30 something.

It's a "worn item" cap, not an FT cap. You can get no more than 15 mana/tick from equipped items. You can also get no more than 30 or 35 hp/tick from equipped items too.

I have to admit I never knew about a worn (innate) mana cap /blush.

Let me just confirm tho that you mean there is an FT cap (18 inc MC) and a worn cap (15) totalling 33? Or are you saying innate and FT count as the same thing?

Please tell me there isnt a cap on buffed mana regen (ie anything with an icon such as crack / pot9) that I never knew about?! lol :)

Max Mana regen through items and spells you can get

15 = Flowing Thought 15
3 = Mental Clarity 3
18 = Voice of Quellious
8 = Protection of the Nine
4 = Mask of the Forest
21 = Chorus of Marr
______
69 mana/tick

Note this doesn't count mana you get naturally though the meditate skill. Also not sure what else would stick mana regen wise.

You forgot Spiritual Dominion or whatever that Beastlord buff is.

And Koadic's buff off emp shawl.

Anyone know if the prismatic neck quest item from ST counts like Lunar Whispers/Kodiacs Enlightenment (or whatever the emp shawl does)?

Or is it part of the FT cap?

Or is it independent of the two?

I know most of the number crunchers were past ST when it was revamped but I debate about getting it and am just not sure how it stacks up.

Lucy stacking info suggests to me it won't stack with BL mana regen buffs, but that suggests to me that it WILL take you over the 15 worn regen cap.

Anyone know?

The effect is Chromatic Purity. It only does a piddly 2, but if there are no BL around that is still 2 mana regen you wouldn't have (and it is one of those annoying 1hp rune effects too).

I have the ST/SS quest neck and Chromatic Purity is a buff (ie you click it and it gives an icon) so shouldnt count as innate.

edit - ok nm, I just re-read thru the posts again and I think I understand now. 'FT cap' is just another name for innate. So worn mana regen by any name is counted as 'flowing thought'. Right? :)

That'll teach me to read thru TDG in the early hours and not concentrate properly :)

But Emp shawl effect and lunar whispers DON'T count toward FT cap.

So I really don't know about chromatic purity.

Sorry, no I still meant that Chromatic Purity shouldnt count towards innate. The 'nm' comment was merely there to replace a stupid 'blonde moment' question that I then answered for myself by going back and actually paying attention to what ppl were saying :)

What about lunar whispers effect?

Is that counted toward the worn mana regen cap?

No, as it was stated three posts above.

<strong> What about lunar whispers effect?

If an item has
effect: Lunar Whispers (worn)
then it would count towards the worn mana regen cap.

If an item has
effect: Lunar Whispers (casting time X.X)
then it's a buff and not worn. I haven't heard of any limit on mana regen from buffs/songs yet.
