Is it worth getting tailoring up to 250 and stuff? Or just buy it? Thanks all

Are you really interested in tradeskills? Does the idea of seeing the all magicial "You have increased skill in [tradeskill]" make you quiver with so much joy that it makes the untold hours and thousands of platinum you've spent to get that point melt away? Is it fine with you to watch your friends and guildies level and get great dropped gear while you toil and pharm greenies for tradeskill components?

If you answered no to any of these questions, I would highly suggest you hire your local tailor to make you whatever piece you want - it will (regardless of your opinion of tradeskills or not) be much cheaper and faster to just buy it from someone, even if each piece costs your 20kpp.

But, if you think you'll like tradeskills, go for it!

oooohh baby you hit it on the nose, LOL. Would it really take 100kpp+ to get to 250? Maybe i crazy then, :) i will try and we'll see how much it costs, i keep track. And lvl'n is most important to me, people in game tell me to do something else BESIDES lvl cause that's all i do, i only do tradeskills if i dont have KEI :) HEHE

My tradeskills stand like this:

Jewlrey making (82) (taken 300pp)
Tailoring (30) (taken 0pp)

I had alot of tradeskills with other druid, but of well.

This suxors, i wish i woulda got my smithing to 242 before the patch, FOOEY! Oh well, it sucky anyways. HEHE

Gah, where is the troll spray?

It took me around 500,000 pp to get to 250 tailoring. If you spend less than that for your suit you got yourself a very good deal.

Where the HELL did you get 500kpp? Just a note, that on ebay coulda fetched $5000.00 :) But why did it cost so much? Did you not sell off the stuff u make? And have you made any money back? Do you make Tunarean Soldier armor and sell? TELL ME! :)

I'm at 182 tailoring myself, and if I could spent 100kpp and magically be at 250 I would take it in an instant. In reality, I think it will take more time and plat than that (my rough estimate is that it will take between 250-350kpp more and a lot of time).

I didn't go the cheap route when I did tailoring. I made things to sell (or tried to) and I do not count my sell back in my cost to get to 250. My costs are not all out of pocket. I calculated the costs as if I were not doing any farming at all and if I had paid everyone to get it for me.

This is not the case of course. I farmed thigns for hours on end, fished for hours on end, got tailoring items donated to me and various other non-payment methods of getting tailoring supplies.

Coldain velium tempers always cost around 26.5 pp when I did it. Now you can brew your own. I imagine my cost would have been cut in third if this option had been available to me at the time.

Forrestpine, I will be very surprised if you reach 200 let alone 250. Tailoring is not about instant gratification and throwing plat at it. Even with the new ceremonial solstice robe you still have to farm spiders.

Here is my record for 200+ for tailoring.</a>

Keep in mind the costs were not updated past 240. I guess now that I look at it, the total cost (my cost + other cost) was more in the range of 350-400k plat.

I did free tailoring combines after 200 (with the rare exception of one server armor seller, where we made a trade agreement). People brought their stuff to me to get it made and I got skill ups.

Here are the raw stats pre 240:

Combines per skill up to date: 1,532/40 = 38.3
My cost to date: 144,346 pp
Cost per skill up to date: 254,203/40 = 6,355.08 pp

Total pp earned from resale to date: updated 4/22/02
183,389 pp

Net change = My cost + resale sales = +39,043 pp

At one point I was negative 100k+ in the "net change" column. After about 230 or so it became positive. This may not be entirely accurate as some of the armor I sold was from armor people gave back to me as a donation for making their armor, so I did not calculate that armor into "my cost to date".

Hope that clears things up a little.

Yup...big money to do tailoring. DO NOT do tailoring to make money...do it because you have a craving for self multilation and you start sweating when you read patch messages, hoping for any inkling of new recipe announcements.

And...um....brew yer own tempers. =)

about 500k it took me to get from 115 to 250. all velious combines on that though. I bet it can be done on 100kpp or less now with the luclin recipes although you'd have to stay away from wyvern masks and otter caps.

Success I've had on tunarean soldier/scout stuff at 250 skill:
1 for 4 on tunics
2 for 7 on legs
2 for 2 on belts
2 for 2 on arms
5 for 6 on bracers

I dlike to thank you Kinare for the uber deal you cut me on Xorena, I had no idea that was you.

How much you charge to make tunarian soldier arms?

You're welcome Jhesair, though to be completely honest, due to the recent tradeskill frenzy I really don't remember what I sold you, let alone what great deal I gave ya =)

Most of my BD supply is being used by my 245 skill ogre smith in making armor, which sells for significantly more than I could ever hope to get for the druid arms. For Ogre arms I charge 40k, don't advertise, and probably sell about 1-2 arms per month. For druid arms, which basically cost the same to make (both use Blue Diamonds)...

With a limited resource like blue diamonds what would you charge, considering I can use those BDs in another tradeskill? Personally I think I would be lucky to get 15k for the druid arms, but for now, until the ogre armor market dries up I am going to sink my BDs into that.

If you can scrounge up a few blue diamonds lemme know. We can work something out.

I love the "just say no to PST" gif Kinare, I've never used it and I never will. If I'm auctioning an item it should be clear that if you want it then send me a tell :)
