One per 12h is the common drop rate on it I do believe.

i got my idol on the first kill but we just went down to see what was up and bingo. I would not camp it like that, just do one or 2 spawns and log out.

Not that I know of, went there a week ago with a tank friend. Chief was up and had idol. Took about 5 mins to get it.
