Okay heres the deal,

I get very limited spam in my email address, like one or two pieces a month. Now the ones that I have been getting I decided to get crafty and pull up a whois on to see who is the ass who is sending me this crap. Well my question is, do you think I should write a letter to him or should I email the guy who owns it and ask him to please stop sending me spam? Or maybe I should just mail him my junk mail (but thats no fun because I have to pay for it)

Anywho, just wondering what would be more effective......or maybe a very very angry phone call.

Most of the time it's not worth it to try and contact the sender, because all that does is verify that you've got a working address. Unless it's actually "spam" in the form of something from a large public company - sometimes their "unsubscribe" options don't work so well and you have to contact their support address.

If you always get spam from the same person, you can also ask your ISP to put a block on it by sending them examples of the spam. If it's a known offender, sometimes they'll even block out the connecting system's IP. You can also directly contact the sender's ISP - sending spam and other advertisements are usually against their rules.

Now, when you said you did a whois, I'm assuming you checked the mail headers and verified that the person who's showing up in the From: line is actually the correct person? If not, you may want to check that. Spoofed From: lines are very common.
