With my guild reaching the elementals this past weekend by killing RZtW and MM (I missed out on the 2 flags that I needed though due to illness :( ) I was wondering how the drops in the elementals are. I notice that alot of druids are outfitted with Kerasha's and I was wondering just how rare Elemental patterns are compared to Ornate. I know ornate armor will drop off the BoT tower rares and named along with various other bosses from the various zones.

We're still doing Vex Thal but I was wondering whether I should be saving up for either VT drops or Elemental drops, both of which would depend on how much of an upgrade I could use for that slot and also how rare the Elemental leather drops are because I'd be cause against two other classes too (Monk and Beastlord).

Any suggestions or comments would be great. :)

Elemental armour is rare. It drops only off of boss mobs and the higher mini's. i.e. any mob that drops it is a raid level event.

Ornate armour is common in solrotower by comparison, can drop off any mob (yes, even zone in trash), although some pieces are pretty ho hum. Fill in the spots you need by xp grouping there.

In VT, spend your elp on non-armour slots, i.e. belts, capes, rings, etc. VT is a great place to get your FT maxxed. Spend the rest of your elp on elemental armour and trinkets.

Leather "Was" common enough 4 months ago that a druid app filled out with elemental leather on a single raid. Now it seems the drop rate has slowed down a touch, and we don't do the mobs nearly as much.

The only stuff in VT I'd be bidding on is, the last goo's and Aten himself if you have elemental access.

Mail of Justice, Aten Neck, Shield of Energy are all hard to replace in POP. I've killed Quarm, and just don't see gear my guildmates will be bidding on to replace those items. There may be others, but so far everything else seems replaceable.

Just be careful that you aren't holding out so long that you could be upgrading many slots in the time it takes you to upgrade one slot. In the end you'll end up with better gear/stats than waiting forever for that *one piece* and be more effective overall.

Leather and silk rotts after a few months. We have an app druid who has kerasha's except for breastplate and arms. He may be missing gloves and boots but he's got Time level stuff (also rotting).

While it's awesome for the app, it does say something about leather drops. We get lots and lots of leather (and silk). Chain drops are fair and plate drops will make you cry.

Does it really say something about the drops, or does it say something about how many leather classes you have on each raid compared to plate or chain?

For leather it's dru, monk, bst

and for plate it's war, paly, clr, bard right? And most raids tend to have more of the plate than the leather in my experience. So people get equipped faster and loot rots quicker..

Yeah, depends a lot on your situation. Honestly we have more silk drop than anything, and about even on everything else I think. But it will be a good long time before leather rots for us since we have a ridiculous amount of monks and druids. :)

Yea there's no more common type of elemental drop any more than there was a common type of hot armour drop, it's all just random.

We've had *way way way* more silk drop. It rots. Lots of plate too. Chain and leather are hard to come by.

Just wanna vent here...

Leather drop rate was NERFED$#!^% My guild has a DKP loot system, and like 8/10 of the top DKP people are leather-wearers! omg :(

It's *guaranteed* that every raid we will have 2+ plate, 4+ chain (EXTREMELY over-common, it drops as often as water drops from a waterfall :/) , maybe 1 silk, but 0 leather. NEVER LEATHER. I have the two pieces I really wanted (Hat and Gloves - although I want legs, but we haven't farmed the gods that much yet), but I was so incredibly lucky. Seriously, I have a ranger twink that could prolly be fully-equipped in chain in a month - and she's level 37! (although I'm not doing that of course :p)

Argh... I've heard before that leather rots within a week of entering the elemental planes but if that was so, it's been severely beat into a steaming pile of cowering dust. Diiiieee.. ahem.

For Vex Thal:
TRY HARD FOR:
- AHR Neck (FT 8, 8 Regen, 8 DS, Ultravision) (you won't replace this for a year at least..)
- AHR Mask (18% manapres) (strongest mana pres until quarm/end potime)
- Shawl of Awakenings (FT 5) (from emp ssra, but it's stackable FT5 in a way, and it won't be replaced until quarm, if ever)
- Ring of Flamewarding (26% fire focus) (Fire focus is scarce in elementals.. Intricately Etched Seashell is the only item that has it. There are a few potime fire foci, but we're talking elementals.)
- Crown of Ambivolence (Ext. duration) (depends if you already have a nice EB item, but this is a unique item. It extends all spells that have a duration by 15% (except charm)... I passed on it though, and chose the EB/Ultravision/Seeinvis/Greater stats of Kerasha's Cap... It's really a tough call.)
- Any strong primary item. Mace of Dark Thought, etc. are great. Most of our druids still wield their epic :(

AVOID getting:
- AHR legs or any legs-slot item, pretty much (healing foci very easy to come by, and Legs of Woven Seaweed from powater (griohin the wise) drop commonly. Plan for those or Kerasha's. Ornate is fine for now if not.)
- TVK's Cloak of Glowing Embers (there's quite a few nifty cloaks from the EP's..)
- DXV's Elder Armbands of Ro (easy to replace with Ornate, even, which has healing focus)
- Any glove-slot item. Your elemental gloves give you 25% mana pres for Summer's Flame, making it your main (and very efficient/low mana) nuke.
- Any belt-slot item. Try for Fennin Ro's belt. Your Nature's Infusion will become 2.6 sec cast without BoR. 2.3 sec with :)
- Don't get Emp Slippers if you don't have/plan on saving for AHR's Mask. You'll regret it when you're stuck with 10% mana pres while everyone else has 15%+. (if you are 250 in every tradeskill, ignore this and do the Aid Grim quest)

If you have AHR Neck, you have half your FT covered. Ultimately, you'd be totally set for FT FOREVER if you got AHR Neck (FT 8) and Mail of Judgement (FT 6) = FT 14 total, and if you're still wearing Solstice earring, that's max ft. It's unlikely that you'll ever replace either of these items. Ever.

Remember that the tradeskill items made from Elemental drops are *very* nice. The pottery focus idols give: Spell Haste (15%), Improved Damage (20%), Mana Preservation (10%), and Improved Healing (20%)

Plan your path. Use Magelo, Lucy, Illia's, etc wisely and make sure you will have a right combination of foci/FT.

This is all my opinion. I've spent a lot of time looking over drop tables/magelo combinations since my guild is DKP and I can have flexibility with saving and stuff. If you're in a merit-based guild, saving may not work, but I dunno. You're better equipped if you loot a few decent/good items instead of one ultra-nice item, but don't blindly loot without thinking first.

Or you can buy stuff like it's going out of style. There are a lot of fun toys out there. Fun clickies. You won't get the best stuff first, but you'll have a blast not getting it.

I love my tiny bone bracer from Vex Thal!

There's only a couple on the server and its AWESOME for camoflage.

Put away da leafblower, hit /role and go go necro camoflage.

It's perfect for doing away with buff/port/PL beggars

Well our server crashed on Sat. night which lead to a full repop of all spawns minus gods. Anyhow we proceeded to rampage through Water and Fire and got 3 leather arms, 2 leather boots, 2 leather wrists, and 1 leather glove. Everyone was dumbfounded at the drops, but in all fairness we were going through a big leather drought before then.

We had tons of leather drops in Fire like 3 to 4 months ago. Leather now is seriously nerfed. we might get lucky and get 1 piece of leather somtimes. though, we do have good leather days =p Mostly chains now =p

We get leather at a pretty decent rate, especially in fire. Chain is really rare for us though.

Elemental armor isnt that rare unless your server is really crowded I guess. Most (all?) minis are guaranteed to drop 2 things, most of their loot table being elemental armor with like 2 other items thrown in. Ive seen 30 loots a night a couple times (total, not all armor) from elemental farming.

We got about 10 armor pieces tonight from firetail, magma, reparm, babs, in PoF then Krzi, hydro, ofos, heading into a Coirnav attempt. You do that everyday more or less and you find that elemental armor isnt that rare. <3 PoF

Personally I would be going for the non armor drops in VT. Theres some really cool effects on VT gear that you wont find outside of VT. And sooner or later elemental armor will be rotting for your guild. My guild only did VT 3 times and we havent gone back since. Theres a ton of VT stuff on my wish list that I'll prolly never see.

Been raiding elementals for probably around 3 weeks now, have seen 3 pair of leather boots and 1 bracer, boots seem very common.

Different mobs drop different pieces (i.e. boots, gloves, etc.) So that just depends on who you are killing.

You can skip Fennin Ro's belt if you get Nightcaller Leggings from VT:

30% beneficial spell haste without having to kill an elemental god. :)

Silk is our big drop. It outnumbers all other drops. Silk is beginning to rot.
