EQ-Interface (http://www.eqinterface.com/index.php?s=) is an excellent source. You will find an assortment of UIs there from the very ornate to sleek and clean.

If you see a good one that doesn't look like the cockpit of a 747 and take up 70% screen estate (in 1024 or 800) post a link up :)

In all the "complete" UIs I've looked at, I have never seen one I really like. My current UI is made up of various mods pulled from here and there. I really need to learn XML so I can make my own.

My BIGGEST desire for the GUI, since I do lots of tradeskills, and I'm a packrat with tons of crap on many chars, is a button which opens ALL my packs at once (and closes them, now that they've made the recent annoying change that escape will only close 1 pack at a time). And if I'm in the bank, open ALL those packs, too. It's really annoying to have to click 25 bags open, just to see where everything is at.

Oh yeah, one more silly change I'd like. Currently, you are limited to 25 bags open at any given time. What is the most you could ever possibly want to open? Yep, you guessed it, 26! 8 Inv + 16 Bank + 2 shared bank.

LOL....I also do a lot of tradeskilling, of course, but have never had the need to have more than 5 or 6 bags open at once. Why on earth would you ever need ALL 26 of your bags open at once??

You are welcome to download mine if you like it... It is a collection of the stuff I liked from different mods and some of my own stuff.

It doesn't use either EQUI.xml or the animations file, so I haven't had it break with any of the new patches.

If you use the included INI files for layouts, all of the bags you can open will be nicely layed out on a 1280x1024 display but I didn't do that on the 1024x768... It uses "hard to move" container windows. Also, it replaces the loot window so here isn't a Link All button, nor does it have the new pet buffs display. Both the loot window and the pet window .XML files could simply be removed from the directory if you want those windows to function normally.

Tracking window is druid-specific and gets rid of all of the ranger buttons, but just delete that xml file if you need them :)

There are two INI files in the directory... Once called UI_1280x1024_xev.ini and one called UI_1024x768_xev.ini... Just rename the one that matches your preferred resolution as UI_Charactername_server.ini and copy it into your EQ directory to get the window layouts. (The 1024x768 version doesn't include the hitsmode chat window)

Here is the .zip files : http://www.harmonium.net/filespace/sekira/sekiraui.zip

I searched long and hard for a good, clean looking UI that wasn't too fussy. I finally found the UI in the screenshot below through a guildmate of mine, Nabai/Clarity. I play in 1280 x 1024 and I believe the UI comes in different sizes of resolution. And yes, I do have my chatfontsize set to 6, it's because I'm half blind aswell as being senile ;).

I really like how clean this looks and the colour is lovely too. It also comes in red. The inventory is simple, the spell book icons are not fussy either. The great thing about this UI is that I have never had any problems with it after patches. It's compatible with all expansions. It can be downloaded here (http://www3.sympatico.ca/nitro_wolf/download.html).

This UI is based off Vanje ui, Thomus spell book, Leo_ICE graphics, Etasi's spell icons and a little coding from Nabai/Clarity.

Don't worry too much about the bottom of the screen where it looks like the UI is falling off the screen. My monitor positioning got messed up somehow, I have to fix it.

Enjoy!

Glass UI (http://www.redstone-atlas.net/saweb/tmp/EQ000075.jpg)

This is the one I use with the purpose of displaying the information I want and still leave a view of my surroundings. It has gone through two cosmetic changes since. That being a title bar on the char windows and fixing the close/minimize buttons which you can't see here anyway.

I have a (IMHO) pretty good ui, which take not alot space on 1024*768. I am just to dumb to find some space where i could post a pic =)

I use a modified Vert that I found on the bard boards, and I love it. Savok's UI (http://pub142.ezboard.com/feqdivabardsofeverquestfrm82.showMessage?topicID=5 0.topic)

That's one of the neatest looking UIs I've seen.

a default style EQ skin with:

a) EXP bar below HP/Mana/Sta
b) A window containing 4 inventory slots and both hands (for bard to swap in instruments)

Would be just ace IMO.

In terms of clutter-free viewing, I've yet to see a skin beat the EQ default. Everyone else out there seems to run in 1600x1200 with a massive panel thing at the bottom, just wish I had the stacks of money needed for the necessary hardware :)

My thoughts exactly. Why show all that information all the time. That information isn't nessacary. Does being able to glance your PR at a seconds notice more important having a larger clearer viewport?

In terms of clutter-free viewing, I've yet to see a skin beat the EQ defaultI believe mine to be more clutter free than the default UI. It has the same look, just on most windows I have removed the title bar and any buttons that can be used through shortcuts. I don't link out inventory slots anywhere like most ui's do. Mine actually takes up less room than the original UI. Even the inventory is unclutter by the fact I've removed all the players stats out to the pet window. OK the only window that has "fluff" is the buff window mainly becuase it is faster with the label to identify and it looks nice.

I have a site for it here (http://www.westnet.com.au/syndic). Warning though, it hasn't been updated since LDoN came out, but should get around to it soon :)

I use rombus.. he hasn't updated his for a while now but it follows that "Less is more" concept. You can find it in the UI section of the forums on www.graffe.com

Is this available for download anywhere? Really is quite neat looking. :)

<a href="http://home.comcast.net/~demonmage/images/CaiUI01.JPG" target="new">Cai UI</a>

This is mostly based off an older version of the Iceyblue UI (featured UI at EQInterface) with a couple of modifications, like the Geddine Buff box, and my party/self/target window. I really love the color scheme for it. I know the bottom of the UI looks pretty crowded, I could easily make it less so, but I like having things fit together, and the nice big chat box is handy =-p

[Edit] Oh and I don't use the buff.bmp included with the Geddine Buff box, but the refrence for it is still in the animations file, and I end up with that nice blue color and a similar style of red for it. I think it goes really well with the colors my UI uses, and just looks nice in general =-p

Why do I find it funny that you are running at 1280x1024 but have chatfontsize set to 6 because you can't see? ;-p

Here is an update of the one that I am working on. Just updated the pre-beta last night as there wasn't a raid. It's exclusively 1600X1200, and I'm making the most out of the enormous amount of real estate that the resolution offers.

No, but if I get off my heiny and zip it up it can be.

I'll email myself a note (to home) to remind me to do so.

I get a red x for Ladred's example picture above. I assume you don't use the red x UI.

I'm using Tablets Green Wood by Talyns

http://www.eqinterface.com/sdownload/fileinfo.php?s=&id=2062

It's a simple UI that rarely (if ever) breaks, it has the items the original poster is looking for, and the guy who created this mod is very personable if you have an issue.

Because I am getting older and can't learn new tricks, I asked my hubby to create for me a UI that was simple, looked very much like the original, but had a few things added to it to make my life easier (like buff names, xp numbers, mana numbers, a compass dark enough to see reasonably etc).

This UI is nothing to brag about in terms of fancy appearances or a ton of information, but it seems to be the best fit for me (just enough of what I want without a lot of extras). Since I use this UI, as do about half my guild, hubby updates it with every patch that screws it up.

the biggest problem i have with UIs is that they slow down my Framerate dramatically... like for example Vert's UI (sp?)....

I really like ladred's UI, really like UIs with 2 or 3 chat windows but my res is 1024x768 =(

very nice UIs here though

Probably because I don't like playing in any resolution smaller than 1280x1024 and unless I enlarge the text, I get eye strain from trying to read it?

I've got a GeForce4 4600. I get a better framerate while playing everquest in 1600x1200 than any other resolution, which is why I still use that high resolution. Everquest just runs better.
