Public Service Announcement:

Verant does not exist anymore, Sony acquired them <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/everquesttheruinsofkunark/news_2580857.html" target="top">here</a>. So please if you have issues with the game, don't call attention to Verant because you just will look plain silly. Scream at Sony/SoE for the issues, not a company that does not exist anymore.

Just to bug you...

SoE = Spirit of Eagle
SOE = Sony Online Entertainment

Heheh... anyway, back to whatever.

If you wish to be truly pedantic, SOE isn't really the correct term to use either.

You should be saying "The section of SOE responsible for maintaining and upgrading the game EverQuest". Of course, that section was once known as Verant....

Really, it doesn't matter if you say SOE or Verant. Everyone knows who you are talking about, and only small-minded anal-retentive twits with delusions of adequacy waste peoples times pointing out this issue.

A Rose by any other name...

And I never look silly.

Damned asinine for you to give a flying @#%$ about what they are called, anyways.

Ah! Cool, a screen shot of the Velious interface, I'd forgotten what it looked like.

The greatest trick of the deivl was convincing the world he doesnt exist.

Same people, different name. So it is still VI, sony just decided they wanted to make money off of an obvious success. So they bought out the company and made just about no changes.

Also, SOE was always there anyways. So you should have said VI/SOE originally, but no one did because it would be silly. And as Aidon said, a rose by any other name....

Eh? Hardly any of the original developers are still there. No changes you say?

Gods greatest trick was convincing the world he did exist. :P

Sigil Games is closer to Verant than SOE ever will be.

<chuckle> When Sony bought Verant...Sigil wasn't invented and Brad was still working there, if I recall correctly.

Hell yes, Nimmamen! "vi" all the way!

FYI: Though you all might get a kick out of this. Absor just posted on EQClerics and this is what his little blurbie thing says:

I obviously didn't fall for that trick, either that or I wasn't looking.

There was an article on one of the game sites about the history of Everquests development. It has alot more to it than just Verant and SoE.

I'm missing something here. How can God trick the world that he did exist unless God's around to do it?

Kinda like the old time paradox thingy. If I go back in time and kill my grandfather, do I cease to exist? And if I cease to exist, how could I go back to kill the old geezer in the first place?

Hrmm ... Now I'm just babbling incoherently.

It a conundrum!

Hey, how was that for a fancy, schmancy word?

I kind of prefer Heinlein's theory on "time travel paradoxes"...

They don't exist, they can't exist. You are here, so obviously you've never gone back in time and killed your grandfather...nor has anyone else.

Ill give ya that there has been alot of changes in the development team, but that didnt happen as SoE bought out verant. Sure some of the people likely wouldnt have left, but on the whole Id bet theyd have alot of the new people working on EQ. Just have more of the old ones as well.

Also, it is easy to prove god exists. Just look at the babel fish :)

Someone who writes about perpendicular timelines shouldn't be discounting paradoxes.

Babel fish was genetically engineered! ;)

Besides, what kind of god would make you put a fish in your ear?
