Don't you kind of wish you didn't know how the series will end?

I mean, you know that the people will overcome the machine. Just once I wish Hollywood would surprise us.

Hush you, I have high expectations for this movie, and the end of the trilogy.

<-- not waiting in line

Bf and I decided we'd go see it at a local IMAX theatre. 1) Nice HUGE screen and good sound. 2) a little too expensive for the oppressive teenage hordes (why, yes, I am a movie snob - but the theatre in town is a local hangout and cruise spot and annoys the hell out of me).

It's formula plot #9.

The Chosen one must save: Humanity, a people, a way of life, the world, life, the universe, a prince(ss), cute fuzzy creatures.

The Chosen One must: Struggle against his/her status as the chosen one (why me?), or stoically shoulder his/her responsibility. Or both.

The Chosen One must: Fail a bit to show his/her humanity and then exceed expectations.

In the end the chosen one will: Prevail and get his/her romantic desires fulfilled, or prevail and have his/her romantic desires tragically killed or unfulfilled.

======================
Plot Twists I'd like to see:

The Chosen One finds out they're not the REAL chosen one and they become embittered and sabatoges everything because there's just no going back.

The romantic interest of the chosen one finds out they're really The One.

People enter a new era of enlightenment where they stop listening to prophecies and beleving in "chosen ones". They work together in harmony and cooperation and overcome all obstacles without investing all their hopes in one person with an enormous ego.

I was a little disappointed in the Matrix sequel. Just saw it a couple of nights ago.

Heh! When you get to be my age and have read as many books, seen as many movies, you *know* all the plots.

Seeing a plot you haven't seen 20 befores *is* my wet dream! That's why I tend to go to movie houses that show the non-mainstream stuff.

However, even I enjoy seeing the same old plot reheated with new characters and dialogues, as long as it is done well.

Hey Pana.. I have a movie you haven't seen with a very very interesting non-mainstream plot! It's an independant flick!

Wanna come over and watch it with me?

Actually, that was in all seriousness Pana. Waking Life is a Robert Linklater independant film. It's done with a technique called Rotoscoping. I highly recommend the movie to anyone who likes non-mainstream stuff.

Ok, I'll try to find it. :)

Hate to burst bubbles, but it's Matrix Revolutions, not Reloaded. That was in May I think. ^.^~

Possible vague Spoilers -- read at your own risk

Well.. I just got back from the show and if you are expecting a nice neat little package you are gonna be sorely disappointed.

Basically none of the questions most of us have been asking are answered, but the film is head and shoulders above Reloaded.

I'm going to have to mentally digest the film for another day or two -- trying to understand all the metaphors is going to be like swimming through maple syrup on a cold day.

Good, glad to hear it's not gonna have a standard "Chosen One" ending. :p

And it better be better than Reloaded. I didn't like Reloaded. Wish I didn't spend the $20 on the DvD. :p

Movie sucked.
As Colcannon says it doesn't answer any of the questions.

***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT***

Something to look out for RIGHT at the end:

consider the colours of the last two people talking, and you'll get an idea of what this is about...

*** END OF POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT***

Film was a let down for me.
Too much action, not enough story.

But then again I do ask for too much out of everything.

Well.. it seems to me Revolutions moved the focus of the mythology away from the whole Zion situation and transformed the three films into the birth, life and death of Agent Smith.

It's pretty evident the Oracle/Architect are archetypes for Order and Chaos (which can be simplified into a Good/Evil aka God/Devil metaphor), so I wonder if Smith (a very generic name BTW) is meant to be an Everyman character. He represents how humanity struggles between Order/Chaos or Good/Evil.

Thanks, Stormfoo, for the tip.

I loved it.

I was laughing my ass off when Julie Delpy was doing my whole 'reincarnation' spiel to Ethan Hawke. She was much more optimistic, of course.

Ralph Bakshi retro on Mac-n-Flash steroids.
