When did they stop announcing server takedowns IN GAME? They used to be professional and give you a warning that the server was coming down for a scheduled patch in 15 minutes (or whatever). Now, like what JUST happened on TT, it just comes down. No warning, no nothing.

I happened to have known it was coming because I had stumbled across the announcement on Sony's site, and because someone was nice enough to post it at Druid's Grove. But I'd venture to guess that there were a lot of people online just now that have NO idea what just happened....

....OK, I just confirmed that by logging into chat. There are quite a few players in there that are more than a little p*ssed off about having the server pulled with no warning.

GM responses? "It was on the webpage".
Translation? "Sony owns you. Live with it."

I agree but they have the gaul to spam repeatidly when they want to advertise (aka the recent events for the LDoN chat).

Does this GM think that EQ is so BORING that we browse web sites while playing? Well, guessing from AFK, monks, rogues and clerics they may be correct.... that's a different issue.. oh wait! Nevermind.. I've foiled my own argument!

They should really have the scheduled downtime available in game and have it pop up when you login within X hours of the time(s) listed or popup when it's X minutes away. No reason this shouldn't just be automated to make it easier on everybody. Could also have patch messages available in game like the NPC text with LoY so players could double check or even read it while playing.

They do have this ability Xitix....

They use it for advertising instead of info we actually care about...

Or the MOTD! That would be a rather useful message to put in the MOTD...
