The other day I had a flashback of EQ back in the beta days. There was a Druid (and Shaman) spell in the lineup called "Winged Courier". I dug up an old description: Winged Courier
BUGGED To cast winged courier, you must first target the player you wish to send an item to. Next, you left click on the item to be sent to pick it up. Finally, while holding the item, you click on the winged courier spell icon to send the item to the targeted player. This is currently broken. The item will disappear, the targetted player will get a message that they received the item. The item will NOT be in that player's inventory. When the sending shaman zones, the item will reappear on his cursor. Winged courier will only work when the caster and receiver are in the same zone.If they could figure out how to make a nice user interface for this old forgotten spell, plus make it work across zones, plus make it work when not grouped... then it could be a pretty useful utility spell, don't ya think? Nothing overpowering here, just simple time saving utility.

People would get a friend to powerlevel themselves at lowbie levels (or higher, if quests exists) on the quests where you take XXX quest item from YYY and give it to NPC for faction/plat.

True. I can see how it could be exploited. Sure would be nice for getting Coffins to a failed group/raid when none were available though. Oh well.

I can see how extremely useful the spell would have been back then. Remember there was no /corpse command, and /consent allowed others to loot your corpse for you.

Also allowed them to drag it, just had to be a friend or you had blind faith in that person.

Aye - its suprising how many times I allowed others to loot my corpse back in the day. It gave the game another angle of "trust" thy fellow player. Unfortunately.. trust failed :( and dragging became the game.

How many times I have sifted through 60 guild members corpses to find my corpse in a small corner of some new zone.. that we were told.. If you move.. your a deadman! - I feel for the clerics that had to rez us.

As for Winged Courier.. yes that would of been a grand spell if it actual worked properly.. Zone - Zone would put another angle on the game.. but then every vender out there would be a Druid :( and instead of Taxi's.. we would be called Fed-Ex!

Was a neat concept but truthfully in this day.. I am not sure - if the spell was low enough for our younger generation of druids it would be nice feature for them. Send me a Gate Potion!!! I am stuck.. in those instances.

I would be for it but the ramifications of this spell is unlimited.. unless limited.. then by design.. it may prove less then desirable. - No Limits, Bug Free, Acceptance Button, free Open Inventory Slot.. would be required (IMO), possibly a Pearl or Opal as a "regent" depending on the level of which the spell could be casted. (yes sobe said regent, "a bugle blows in the background..ATTACK!")

Just some thoughts on it.

On Povar back in the day, there were actually a couple of griefers who put up an entire web site boasting about how they used /consent to loot people's gear without consent. Don't recall their names anymore, but for me they were the original EQ $%^%$%^%$%^%$%^%$%^%$%^%$%^%s.

Griefers ruin things for everyone.

Hrm... I remember that, but I can't remember who they were either :) It's hell getting old.

EQ IDIOTS!

They gave play by plays of the poor saps who gave them consent and who were then looted clean and taunted on the web site.

Simular idea is in FFXI.

What they have is NPCs which have a menu system (like a trade box) which you leave items in and type in the persons name. Then in their bank they recieve the items in a delivery box works very well.

I can remember back in the orginal TDG the thread searching for the spell. Someone had stated that they found it on the roof of the shaman guild in Halas which sent people running like crazy to find it. I don't know of any confirmed findings though.

The spell itself for such a low level was an excellent concept. In todays game they would have had to nerf it though since it existed before "Lore" tags were put on items.
1) You could used it to farm lore items, transfer them to a buddy at the zoneline who takes and puts them on mules or sells them, and never have to leave your camp.
2) If one person survive a wipeout you could zone into the zone since most zonein's are relatively save. Use an eye of zorm to target them and send them items to help with a CR such as reagents, etc.
3) using a chain of druids you could do some quests in minutes by transfering items, gating, egress, zone and transfer again.
4) you could have people transfer craft items to you so you would never have to leave the forge/oven/kiln/etc...

I would gladly give up one of our nerfed/useless spells for it or even pay an AA pt for it.

EQ IDIOTS!

They gave play by plays of the poor saps who gave them consent and who were then looted clean and taunted on the web site.

Their characters were "Shekkie" and "Dead", and they used to play on the Prexus server quite a bit. Funnily enough, despite the public antics, they were very intelligent men - a side which very few got to see. Never judge a book by its cover. You never know what's really inside. ^_))
