I have this thing about pirates... Maybe it was watching those old pirate movies when I was a kid, I just loved 'em!

Anyway, there's a PIRATE MMORPG coming! I'm excited!

Never got much into pirate games. Except maybe space piracy in things like Elite.

i tought a friends 3 year old to say "shiver me timbers" and "yar, whar be me rum?" over the summer... was positively hillarious. he did it for about 2 weeks straight before they could get him to stop.

That looks interesting. I'm also really really really looking forward to Sid M's remake of his original Pirates! game. :)

I keep hoping some day Sid Meier will blow the dust off Colonization and update it.

I really, REALLY liked that game. Sure, I liked Civ as well, but there was something uniequelly enjoyable about loading up those caravals with cotton and tobacco....

Yeah, that's the one! Sid M did it! He did come out with a PC version quite a few years ago, but it didn't work really well.

I always wished there were pirates in EQ.

Hmmm... I can't imagine Baptismo being a pirate since you seem to have a thing for Paladins! Of course, maybe a naval officer of a large Galleon would suit you better?

That might suit me. I somehow think my crew would mutiny as I'd probably be a little like Captain Blye.

This talk about Pirates and Commodore 64 got me to thinking about Seven Cities of Gold.

Oh man, I used to play that on my old Atari 800 computer as a kid. Kept me entertained for hours on end, even if I didn't know what the heck I was doing :)

I am a big fan of pirates also. piratesahoy.net is a good site to get some Pirate info as well as Pirate game info.

Pirates of the Burning Sea was recently delayed from a Q1 release to a Q4 which really bummed me out as I was watching it for quite a while.

Another fun PIrate type game was Tropico2: Pirates Cove. It is a city builder but was still fun.

Pirates of the Caribbean was another good Pirate game that is worth checking out. The controls are really awckward but once you get the hang of it, it is a good game. There are a few mods out for it also that are really good. piratesahoy.net has a section on the site for PotC.

Arrrrrrr

Not as old but a well done space pirate game is Independence War 2. Except near the end with that anti matter alien crap.

Avast ye mateys! Sails ahoy! Three points off the port bow! Man the ballistae!

(Yes, I know they didn't use ballista on pirate ships as we think of them...but I like yelling "Man the ballistae!" dammit)

On a different note, from their site:

Key Features
A game for serious gamers. We’re not making this game for whiny twitchers and punks with six-year-old hardware. It's broadband only, for the no-lag performance you demand. It uses the latest graphics technology like DirectX 9 and PixelShader 2.0, so it looks fantastic on the newest video cards. And with Vicarious Vision's Alchemy engine pushing as much as a million polygons per frame, we expect to require a very fast PC.

They just lost a bunch of sales.

piratesahoy.net is a great sorce for PotS news. They have recently been contacted by the devs so may be a site to watch. Great bunch of people on the forums also.
