I put together a summary comparison of paladin LDON armor vs. ornate armor that some people found valuable. Someone asked whether there had been a similar comparison done for druid armor and I was not aware of one - so I took the same template and produced the comparison.

I thought some people might find it valuable here.

Druid Armor: LDoN & Ornate (http://home.stny.rr.com/drhager/m_vs_i_vs_o.htm)

The analysis assumes a non-raider, but the actual data comparison could be appropriate for a raiding druid as well (though I doubt they'd be interested in the comparison to begin with).

One thing the comparison does do is point out how small the difference is between the 1492 and 760 armo sets - the prices really should have been adjusted when the Type 2 slot was changed to a Type 1 on the 1492 armor.

Nice chart. With the clickies and focus affects built into the ornate, it seems to come out ahead short term.

Your table clearly shows the superiority of Mucus Drenched over the lesser pieces. Each piece has +15 hp/mana, except the chest which has +25 hp/mana. When you consider that a type 2 +15 mana/aug is 760 points and a +20 is 1150 points, Mucus Drenched is a great deal even if you never plan on maxing it out.

The comparison with Ornate is more difficult, since Mucus Drenched has three aug slots, and, unlike Ornate, Mucus Drenched will accept a +40 hp augment for the wrists and gloves. Druids did really luck out on good effects on the Ornate though, and it's hard to give up.

Nice one, Ornate has more useful clickies, but if you want go for the stats. Go for LDON :)

My druid is actually 2-boxed and I went with a combination of Ornate and Immortal Blood-Tainted. I agree that the Mucus-Drenched is clearly better, but not good enough to justify the additional cost for me.

If I were going to play EQ for an "infinite" amount of time, planned to spend the rest of that time in LDoN and though that there would be no non-LDoN upgrades in the fugure for him, I'd go for the Mucus-Drenched. As it is, though, I earn an average of about 400 Adventure Points per week. I'm much more interested in the effects than in the stats and would rather have them now than 9 months from now (when who knows what will be available).

For someone who earns more points per week, I'd definitely go with the end-state armor; I would not want to be in a position of wishing that I'd gotten the better armor instead.

I'll also mention that in my own case, my group did Mistmoore, then Everfrost then Tak and then Guk, meaning that I'd have had to have waited a LONG time to get the Guk armor - for me, getting the chest and legs from Mistmoore and almost immediately getting another FT3 worked out much better. It'll be many, many months before I get all of the armor I have fully augmented anyway.

The fact that my druid rarely ever solos and rarely gets aggro (he always has a knight as a tank and he rarely needs to heal me early) also means that I value HP on my druid less than others might, which is another consideration.

I couldn't see upgrading out of Ornate on my druids wrists, boots, hands or sleeves (which I don't have yet but will). Those effects are just too beneficial for him to give up to get some of the better stats on LDoN armor. I agree that druids made out quite well with Ornate armor (for my paladin, the only piece of ornate that is worth keeping would be the boots for FTIII).

The route to take on LDoN vs Ornate also depends on your access to Ornate. Given the current costs of Ornate it is kind of rediculous to buy it, but if you are a behind the curve member of a guild in Elementals or have good friends in such a guild, the Ornate route is much better as it is drop.

A druid from my guild who was well equipped pre-PoP and had to go offline shortly before PoP, has now returned. We will take her along on Guk runs to get her the Tunic, but we will check our banks for Ornate Leather just lying around unused. We probably have enough to fill a few slots. This druid is highly thought of on my server, and folks from other guilds are so happy to ser her back online, they are just walking up to her and handing her drop stuff to upgrade her. I would not be surprised to see her being given Ornate pieces from other Time enabled guilds.
