I heard a nasty rumor that the mobs around the tables in Plane of Fire are now summoning on the test server. Can anyone comment on the validity of this rumor?

About time. They should have been summoning from the beginning.

Yea they should of summoned from the start, but I think it's silly to change now.

Why? It is a place casters and other ranged damage people can go XP without the need to put together a traditional melee+healing group. The XP is not significantly different than a traditional melee group in Earth. It is not the best solo spot (at least for non-pet classes) in the zone (at least in my experience, quading yellows from gib is better solo than the reds at the tables, over a period of time). Likewise, once down at the safe spot in water, soloing and grouping is better there than in Fire, tables or no. Prior to the huge soloing nerf sold to us as a "benefit for groups," maybe the solo XP there was too good, but now it is not, so why make Fire yet another zone where no one goes except to raid?

Why?

My guess is that there are two factors as to "Why?" First, it seems like popular zones always get nerfed just before or just after a new expansion is released. Second, the "thou shalt group" zeal that SOE has shown lately seems to be leaps and bounds beyond that of the devs of "the Vision" days of yore. Put those two together and the explanation is simple: they want you to go group in the new expansion for exp and leave the EP and above for raids only.

However, this topic was brought up several days ago on the necro boards, and someone reported there that table mobs on test are not summoning but there seemed to be some confusion over there whether or not that was the case: PoFire tables nerf coming? My thought is that Sony doesn't mind people soloing as long it's either very dangerous or has less reward than grouping. That's fair enough as if it was the other way round then nobody would need to group up at all really, and people can still solo if they enjoy it or can't find anything else to do. I expect PoF tables were seen as too rewarding, and not just by Sony.

The table mobs are actually not best done solo, but by a caster/ranged group. It's not a group vs. solo thing, it's a traditional tank group vs. caster/ranged group thing.

Personally, I like the fact that there are places where a nontraditional tank-based group can do well.

You've answered your own question. <img src=http://lag9.com/biggrin.gif>

yes...and its complete BS, if they change pofire tables to summon they better damned well put a friggin awesome kiting spot in GoD for groups.

and yes what people have said is correct, solo exp here aint that great, imo hardcore postorms is better with no one else around, but the group exp is fairly nice, altho i dont have much of a preference of fire over earth as long as i dont have to heal =)

Having to heal is sux. I don't mind spot healling, but being jammed like a friggin cleric into a rotation (which is usually just for rampage, on mobs that it turns out I could heal rampage alone with just spam heals) makes me want to stab people. I especially hate Magmaton for that (since he rampages often and hard enough that you really do need a separate rotation for rampage).

Oh, uh, the original subject, uh, figures that this would happen (if it's true) right as I get elemental access (flagged for earth/water/air atm, and all 5 solro minis, just need solusek flag)

Why does this rumor keep coming up and who's the dork who started it? :P

The table mobs don't summon, and probably never will. I also don't understand why people get upset that casters can solo them (yeah they give alot of exp, but take forever to kill). The exp ain't that great compared to a good earth or deep water group anyways :P

I certainly hope this is true.

Quadding 4 red mobs at a time with minimal risk and HUGE gains

Long overdue change imho

Where is the spot in water? Re: what can I solo that dosen't summon. I have yet to have fooled around in there.
