Anyone here in a guild that actively uses the program "teamspeak"? A few people in my guild are considering it for use. I'd just like some input about it's pros/cons and any other suggestions there may be. Thanks

I don't use is for EQ, but I have a teamspeak server up and running for my weekly NeverWinter Nights games.

For a limited number of people, it works very well. On cable modem the bandwidth it uses hasn't really been noticable and shouldn't effect you play.

The biggest concern I'd have with using it for the guild in EQ is the sheer number of people that would be competing to talk. Only one person can talk at a time, and even with only 5 people on we frequently end up talking over each other and having to repeat ourselves.

Try Ventrilo.. I tried Roger Wilco and Teamspeak.. they didn't seem as good.

My guild uses teamspeak on a nightly basis. It comes in very handy. We have channels set aside for our pullers and trials groups. We also pay for our own server though. I'm not sure how well the general servers work but ours is crystal clear.

My guild also uses Teamspeak - we have the advantage of the program being on another computer that is not playing everquest so no lag issues.

You just need someone to host it with a decent ammount of bandwidth. Cable will start to lag out at about 15 people. I use teamspeak for Raven Shield and Operation Flashpoint, and Ventrillo for Everquest, they are the exact same to me /shrug.

I run a teamspeak server on a seperate PC that the guild uses.

It's not a bad program but we do run into issues from time to time.

1) Dial up users will have major lag problems when you get a significant number of people on TS.

2) Some sound card issues with other people that cause's a horrible horrible echo, sort of a Max hedroom kinda sound. (just mute them) that's what we do.

But other than that it works really well. Especially when raiding. We DON'T invite the whole raid into there... but the Raid leader MT and generally the Main healer for the MT and the puller in there so that it's easier to give them instructions as to what is going on,

Just my 2 cents.

Yes it would have to be controlled/moderated otherwise the raid will be worse off than without it.
