Why don't people use the group looking for members part of the LFG window? I check it occasionally and it once there was a group on it. I think it's a great idea, but it never gets used.... what's up with that?

I usually see 1 or 2 groups on there. I know I never use it because I form groups up very quickly, sending tells to /lfg folks is faster than using this feature. I think it would be most useful if you were trying to form a group for a PoJ trial or something similar where a group might take longer to form.

I also think that its kinda too little too late.

For example, for us older players I think we generally have a group of friends and people we sorta know to adventure with. If we have a spot, its easier and better to look at our friends list or send a tell to people we've adventured with in the past rather than take a chance with someone new.

Also, its not really that well documented a feature. My sister started EQ back in December and she didnt even know it existed. Probably because on Karana at least no one really uses it.

And finally, its not even really needed for many things. The serverwide channels already perform much of that function and they were around long before the LFG window. Example we have an LDoN channel, a PoJ Trials channel, and a few others. Most people I think actually use those rather than the LFG window because they're more familier with it.

Your milage may vary of course depending on server. But I think it really was meant more of an afterthought due to that feature being a part of newer games than something they expected to catch on. It makes sense in newer games where you dont really have a large friends list. In a game as old as EQ, I think it loses a lot of its functionality. At least for older players.

When I played I used it a ton! But people rarely ever checked the LFP windows. I have no idea why the lfg/lfp tool didn't catch on. I guess people are too lazy to learn to use something new.

The LFG tool is definately dissapointing. Not the way it works, but that most don't use it. I agree with most that people just got used to not having one, so never used it when it was added. If it was in game at day 1, I bet it would be heavily used.

I never really used this myself until recently and same results. Most peeps just don't look there much. I just started using it for LDoN and usually get a invite through friends for something else first. Ironically I get tells all the time when I'm in LFG mode waiting on the invite to a guild raid, lol.

I find that a /who all 65 lfg allows me to find who I want much faster. I am just used to reading the /who spam, skimming through it for what classes the group needs.

The only thing that anoy me with the LFG tool is when a raid full of /ano player use the LFG flag to form group and that the player didn't put raid or going to raid in is description. You can get as anwser sorry getting to a raid and when the only 2-3 cleric LFg are on this raid.... But generaly after 2-3 mns, they put a comment about getting to a raid (much get a ton of tell.....) or get in their groupe for the raid.

It is a great group, and when I see a group LFM and thei can use a druid, I often get the group's spot.

I know! It should be -another- screen that pops up when you log in. That way people KNOW it is there! Yeah, that's the ticket!!!

I find the LFG tool really useful. Genuinely useful. If I'm thinking of going lfg I check to see who's about and what classes and choose whether to go lfg with my druid or pallie, or just not bother. When filling groups I use it to find people, it's great.

The reason parties never set themselves up looking for people is that it's much easier usually for them to look at the lfg people and get a replacement right away.

It's well used on Xegony, or at least i find it to be. Its very useful for construcing groups i find.

my favorite under-used feature is the notes window. wonderful for keeping track of tank orders, who you were to contact for tradeskill components, and the like. you never lose the post-it, and you never need a pen!

as for the lfg window.... the idea to pop it up on login would probably render it more well used. it's not a bad idea, really. what's it take, pounding the escape key a few times to close that, the timer, and stuff like that? no biggie.

A feature I just discovered the other day:
/hidecorpse looted
Hides corpses that you've already looted, even if things are still on them.

oooh, I like that pala. Thanks.

As for lfg. Ther ereally does need to be an /LFR command so people can distinquish between those looking for raids and those looking for groups.

The window I would like if I were searching the LFG market more, but I rarely do that.

Ooo, how does notes work? How do you bring it back up? I used it once, but I forget... and just have cluttered papers all over my desk :(
