So it was one of these days:

You come home from work, you log in and find yourself in the Reef of Coirnav. You greet your guild, which is raiding just there and hear in OOC: gratz bro on your new leather leggins, we just looted em for ya as you we're not on. you're pretty happy, as them new leggins fit perfectly and show of your cute behind. you fancy yourself in your new pants using exterior view and keep telling your friends how happy you are.

you go LD. well duh, had to happen just then off course. you shrug, enter your password and see the message: "Your account has been banned due to improper behavior". You're like: "What in the name of anything sane?!" So you send an e-mail to the CS and oh wonder, they reply. You are told that you were banned due to a violation of the EQ EULA. Period. After 5 more e-mails nothing more was said.

Well, I do know that I gave out my login to a few people, but wtf SOE CREATED this situation by the darn flagging system in PoP. It's insane to think that a guild's members will always be there for every flagging mob. *sigh* I was a bit downhearted, as I grew to love my cute Tau Tropfen.

I have a 2nd account, so I logged in to inform my friends that my account has been banned. Off course first things were "WTF!?" "Are you joking!?" and the like, followed by "Demand to know why!!!". After the e-mailing I told my guildies on the board of my guild and then came what surprised me most: their reaction.

They helped me to get to level 65 and time flagged in 1 week, lent me gear and everything. I am now back at 65/62 in 17 days with some decent gear, all spells, time flagged and kod taz enabled. and yes, i again started a druide, just can't see me playing anything else, we just rock to damn much.

Anyway, just wanted to share this little... incident with you as well as give you an explanation why my sig and all changed. And though I will miss being Tau Tropfen (dewdrop) I kinda got used to being Regen Tropfen (raindrop) and sure as hell enjoy EQ more than ever, knowing I have friends to back me up :)

Lucky hobbit !! :p Well EQCS is kinda useless. GMs tell you to email EQCS if they have a problem they don't want to solve/think they can't. Then EQCS just usually say they can't help you. Least they not been very helpful to me. :p

Well, wouldn't call it lucky to lose what I lost, after all I put very much into Tau, including all Tradeskills at 220+, all trophies and allot of fun items like the pet proc mace from LoY and the like *sigh* But fortunate to have friends like that :)

did I understand this right?

pretty much 40+% of most time guilds would be banned if not more if they banned for account sharing, if they did thats pretty much total Bull****, thats really cool though that your friends did that for you.

Oops read it wrong, but wth they can't ban you for acccount sharing? its non sense. I know the EULA says its wrong but if SOE starts to tackle down on account banning cause of account sharing = tons of people leaving EQ. Also the ban shouldn't be a permenant one , should be only a few days only but I dunno.

Well keep at them because I know that SOE banned about 1/3 of a certain upper level guild on Fennin and let every one back in less than a week later. Perhaps the public shout wasn't in your best interest and you should be slapped on the wrist for it, but to lose your character AND account for something that SOE actually mandated by design is bad business on their part. AND they reinstate "banned" accounts all the time for greater infractions than yours. Keep at them.

Was the infraction just your sharing of the account, or did someone do something else that caused the ban while they were on your account?

*shrug* "Violation of the EULA" nothing more was said. And it also wasn't me who started the public shouting, that were my guildies :)

I would try to find out why. Sounds fishy to me, like someone else said , if they banned everyone who let other people play them, about 3/4th the people in the game would be gone.

y guess, is plat duping.

I WISH really WISH they would ban me. I'm not going to do something bannable, but I would really like it if they would ban my account. Then I'd have an excuse to escape all the ninnies on my server.

I realize I can quit, but quitting is like running away. To be banned would mean it wasn't my fault.

Ok, first as many have said here. If they wanted to ban all the people that were "2 box'd" they would loose at least 15% of each servers population, and that would be just the CCH clerics so many guilds have to log on to accomplish anything. Add in all the pissed off people, and you could have an epidemic. I have to wonder if this is EQ's way of dealing with all the Plat alts floating around out there?

At any rate, this is not the time for EQ to start quibbling about the semantics of their EULA when they have ignored them for so long themselves and well after they built a game (flags suck) where Boxing is nothing short of ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!!!!! There are a lot of games coming out in the next 12 months. EQ is not #1 on the MMORPG's list anymore, and if they want to keep alienating their customers, those customers have all kinds of options to run to.

Say, I'm gonna go post a wish in the wish thread that started. I'll conveniently ignore the twist it gets from the following demented genie.

They will ban you if you share your account, or tell them you share your account rather.

They will ban you if you tell them your account was hacked.

Those are old rules, I have never heard them change them.

SoE didn’t say that your account was banned due to account sharing, simply that it was banned due to breaking the EULA. It could easily have been someone with your account info doing something against the EULA.

I think that the reason account sharing is disallowed is not particularly because SoE cares who uses an account, but as a defense for them if one of the people with access to an account breaks the rules. I can imagine the customer service nightmare if this rule weren’t in place and people could appeal against any suspensions/bans because “it wasn’t me playing, it was my friend Fred who had my password”.

If you have been banned simply for account sharing, and no other rules violations, then you are certainly the first I have ever heard of. Which makes it seem unlikely given the huge amount of account sharing which goes on.

well you know, they should at least give you a log and reason for the banning.

we have a person banned too, who has been in email ring around with SOE for over a week now, and not gotten ANY detailed info as to WHY.

it just seems fair to me that they would give you more specific information on it, how hard is it to attach a log file to the email?

You greet your guild, which is raiding just there and hear in OOC: gratz bro on your new leather leggins, we just looted em for ya as you we're not on. Here's a guess. Your friends openly brag to the whole zone to logging your account into the game. And you wonder why you get a response from SoE? It's like driving 90mph on the freeway with a big flashing speedometer on top of your car.

Your friends need some discretion. If you wonder who did it to you? Any other player in the zone who could have looted the pants, or any other player in PoP.

Only ppl in the zone were guildies ... and I only got the pants as they were about to rot :) Though I do agree that they were ... let's say indescrete

I am confused about one thing. It sounds like you gave out your account information again? Pretty sure it is still against the rules.

Your guild actually created the situation where you needed to give out your account information , not SoE. Plenty of people and guilds have made it through PoP without any sharing at all.

Honestly your friends are just fools as well. Given the situation in Reef of Coirnav on most servers there is a better than normal chance that there is a GM monitoring that particular zone when there is a guild there.

Trust me when I tell you that Kael isn't like most other servers :) we have 4 guilds in the e-planes and have a rotation going on. So far there was NEVER any griefing, cock blocking or blowing of events between those 4 guilds. If guild A is raiding in a zone that zone is tabu for the other guilds and this has always been respected.

As for your question: no i did not give my acc. information away again. They helped me by powerleveling me, always inviting me into groups and the like, but I was present myself all the time. And I do agree it was foolish to start yelling around. However I HIGHLY doubt that there is but ONE elemental or time guild out there where not one account is shared between two people (and even if it is your brother it would be a violation of the EULA)
