Been down since at least 4am PST (When I first ran into the problem). Just got done with yard/house work and oh look, they are still having issues.....11 hours later.

I know it's Sunday and I know that most of the EQ staff is at FF, but that's no excuse IMHO. With all the server problems of late and the recent patch issues you would think that they would be on this stuff faster.

They have not been down continuously for 11 hours. I logged in at around 2pm eastern and had no idea the login servers were having trouble.

I havent been able to log on for about 14 hours... mind you I was asleep for several in there... but nevertheless I dont remember such a long network outage without an explanation happening before.

Par for the course these days. The CS team over in India is probably wondering wth is going on just as we are...

I got in a few hours ago. Then I logged because I couldn't get rid of the snowing sound (yet another post-patch bug) and couldn't get back in. Luckily, my Bazaar saleslady is still logged in. Of course, nobody new can log in now and buy from her! :curse:

Humm... I logged on finally. It was Raining.. I went indoors.. It was still raining indoors.. I got booted and couldn't log back on.. Guess this is how they encourage people to go to FF instead of playing.

Hey, don't know if that works, but I do know I've heard of people being banned for using those login servers. Those servers are setup for inhouse use/maintennce/emergency work by Sony people, not regular people like us. They track who is logged on using those servers so, if you think it's worth the hassle for a couple hours of play time, good luck to ya.

I'm only telling you what I saw :p. Don't know if it's bannable and I did not use it. I don't play around with my text files.

It amazes me how people find out about this stuff.

Greetings all,.
We are currently experiencing issues with our login server. Our operations team is working on it and hopes to have the problem resolved soon. Monday April 5th, 2004(11AM PST )

This is pretty crappy downtime for such a major operation. Not like SoE is using some Ma & Pa company to run their server farms. SoE should be firing someone or suing someone for this imho :)

Ok that's it I'm done I haven't been able to play for 2 weeks because all of the problems. I'm going to give all my stuff away and find some thing else to do!!! SOE is not getting any more money out of me for this game. I just spent $40 for a new card and have only been able to play 2 days on it. I play on the Tribunal server if anyone here wants some gear let me now and I'll set up a time to be on :)

Well, they've updated the "header" message on the EQLive forums at least twice that I know of since 11am (3:30pm and 7pm). Slight change in the wording, same message.

Down two days in a row now.

At this rate, all the addicts will be over EQ.

Between massively buggy patches, DX9 issues, extended server downtime, an unfinished and frustrating "expansion", and very ho-hum "working as intended" reports coming from the fan-faire, I'll be surprised if they (eqlive) ever fully recover from this.

Talk about giving people multiple excuses not to bother even trying to log on anymore. And still no information as to why this is happening, besides "well, it's some sort of error. We're working on it."

I'm sorry... but that's not a good enough answer. I want to know what's wrong, I want to know why this isnt being given (seemingly) a priority... for god's sake the server status pages (many of them) still say there's nothing wrong, last update having been Sunday. Were key people stuck at the fan faire? Why werent they recalled when this started happening? Why hasnt someone been fired over this? When are we going to see it fixed? Where is Community Relations? Brenlo should be on every class board apologizing, not hiding away nursing a hangover. Instead we're left to guess in the silence that is the CS vacuum.

And this is just the login issues... we all know how rediculous the past few patches have been, and we all know that they knew they were buggy and pushed them live anyway.

Such incredible disrespect for their customer base... it shows just what they think of us. I cannot imagine how anyone can have the least bit of enthusiasm over EQ2 knowing that it's the exact same company bringing you this decrepid level of customer service, and that they HAVE NOT and WILL NOT change. Who do they think is going to be playing it? Complete strangers to MMOG's or people who are already familiar with SOE's operational mentality? They must be hoping for newbies, because they are systematically destroying any and all reasons to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Ironically, it wasn't until I was out of game for 4 days after the infamous DX9 patch that I really took the time to fully check out WoW, and now every time I have to wait for EQ's Login Server, I take the opportunity to read up on the latest WoW news and tidbits.

ust say, I've been impressed with WoW's class structure and concepts. In addition, making provisions for all classes to solo is a pretty good indication that they're aiming some content toward 'time-restricted' players. This is something Sony never seemed to grasp: a game can draw more people, for longer subscription periods, if players don't feel like they have to schedule their playing time in 4-6 hour chunks every day of the week in order to progress.

When WoW is released I'll probably split my play time between it and EQ for a week or two. If the game even comes close to being as good as it looks, I'll probably leave EQ and give WoW a good month of dedicated play before making a final decision.

The bottom line is- once that decision is made, I will only maintain subscriptions to one game, not both. And if WoW wins my business, they will also have orders for 10-15 CD boxes as I give my closer EQ friends every temptation to make the switch with me.

I feel the same about WoW as well...waiting on the Druids PC to be put into Beta to see what's going to happen with that class...

Glynna,
btw, if you login, and you see your the only user online, well it might be a bad thing. I've used that trick of changing the login server myself a few times. It's great for certain times. However, if you ever login, and Kelmore's (or his alts) are not online also, it might be time to log.
I've never had an issue with a GM using it, and I've known about it for a year or so now.

WOW and Horizons are looking good to me. I like Blizzard's quality assurance approach (until Dx2 patch 1.10 but that's a different matter). They get points for their record so far. Now, that doesn't mean they get a free ride. They just earned a chance at a good look at their product.
