It is kind of sucks currently. 2 of the 3 spell only drop in sewer and vxed/tipt (at least I nevber see them in ikk/kT). Almost everyone in my guild got the spell from geo stone (sp). It is kind of sucks that you have to farm old trial just to hope one of the name will drop the spell. This is like forcing EP guild go back to farm POV to hope a EP spell drop. oh thats even worse than that since POV actually give more exp than anywhere in GoD.

And even more ridiculas is, a spell rarely drop, and it may not be your class either. There is 12 classes with spell, and so your chance of getting your spell is 1/12. If you already have 1, it is 1/24. Combine with the rarity of spell drop, maybe you have a chance of 2% to actually loot the spell you need. The exp in trial simply sucks, mob hit too hard for the reward makes ppl dont like to go there.

Solution

a) make spell non no-drop (wont happen)
b) make all spell come from the geo stone. Code the NPC so that he/she will only give you the one you have. Thus, make the geo stone drop in lower tier as well.
c) Increase spell drop rate, make them drop in higher tier zone as well (but dont block normal item drop)
d) make them drop by trash mob as well.

I think make them all from stone turn in is nice

Also, who on earth will want that sylan ember? Weak upgrade, and it is just a dot spell that is rarely used. 90% mob will die less than 1 minute, and 50% of them die in 30 seconds so even VoT is rarely used. Change it to something more useful, just like what SOE did to shaman (they change the useless dot to a new heal)

What is messed up IMO, is that with PoP as high level guilds learned and passed each of the zones (gods, flags, whatever you wish to call it), the spells seemed to drop like crazy. Those that were in one of those guilds were able to populate their members spell books.

In GoD even if you are a trail blazing guild you do not get these drops, part of what many consider the benefit of being first into an area. The same applies to item drops. GoD is really messed up with regards to consistent drops.

Ranger sword anyone?

Outside of GoD zones, I seriously don't think you need these spells. For that matter I'm not sure how most really help in GoD. That being said I don't have the new heal spell yet and have been in these zones since the expansion has come out as I'm sure a lot have. Do I wish I had it? Of course, however I don't feel like I'm missing out not having it, yet. I know of two druids on my server that have this spell but I'm sure there are more.

I was able to get the Sylvan Fire spell doing a trial and am happy to have that.

During one of the previous patches Sony announced an increase in spell drops but didn't say if they were off the quested drop or off actual spell drops. I am not sure if anyone has really noticed a real increase.

I still think they need to make yellow trash in Ikkinz/KT have a chance to drop the barindu trial spells.

Just as a side note, we've been in GoD since day one and we only have 3 copies of SI out of 10 druids. I don't even want to think how many times we've done the trials for members, bots, toons or how many times we've pharmed the sewers.

Guildmates reported that trial 1-6 named mobs' spell drop rates seemed to increase from around 20% to 50% with that patch. Of course, getting the spell you want is another matter...

the sewer trial is long, boring and very low reward. Name does not spawn frequently, it may not drop any spell and very likely it won't drop it for your class. I have done trial 1 2 3 5 6 (and rondo) for a total of 11 times and I never see a single spell drop, but like 3 melee mask and 2 plate bracer has rotted. So are you telling me I probably need to play the same thing 30 times to hope for a drop? I hope not, is like forcing you to play extended POJ trial that takes 3 hour instead of 5 minutes 200 times in order to get EP spell which is almost necessary to progress further

fyi, GoD sewer trials exp is as good as pofire exp, in the yellow area. you just have to have a good dps group. your kill speed will balance the two (I do 45min aa in fire, 40min aa in GoD sewers)

the biggest problem with the spells is no drop. remove it. there is no reason for it.

Well, If you remove the No-Drop there is no reason to buy the expansion if you are only after spells, is there ?

Some trials are better than others for spells.

Trial 3 seems to be by far the best. Stick with that if you want to farm spells. You'll almost never get one from trials 1, 2, and 6, if I remember right.

You can get the same spells (the non-Kod'taz ones) by farming the white/yellow rare spawns in Ferubi. There are about 8-10 of them and they aren't very rare spawns, about 1 rare for every 2 placeholders. Some of them have some decent loot, and there is very nice rare random loot in Ferubi. A decent group can do a cycle of 3 or 4 within the 20-minute spawn cycle.

I agree that the spells need to drop more. I was fortunate that a guild bro had Sylvan Infusion drop and yelled at me to come loot it.

As for the above quote, I think thats not a great idea.
Everyone needs a geomancy stone( melee also ). I am on a list waiting patiently and I know I will get my nuke in due time but I'd hate to imagine the backup if every caster needed 3 of these. We arent exacly seeing minibosses drop 2-4 stones all the time like Runes off Ele mobs.
