Okay, 3 times in the past two days, I've either just zoned into PoK or just started playing and my computer freezes while in PoK, to the point I can't even CRTL ALT DEL to stop the application, I have to warm reset computer. =P

Several people in my guild are complaining about the same thing. Anyone else seeing this?

SOE, please fix!

That happened to me last night when I was just sitting in PoK waiting for raid to assemble. It just froze up to the point I had to kill it in task manager with the keyboard because it wouldn't release the mouse either.

It has happened every night for the last three nights. I log in, move a bit, it locks up and I have to go to task manager to shut down EQ. After that happens I have logged in and continued to play normally. A few of my guildies have had similar problems. I WISH that there was another game out now that I could switch to. Hurry, Blizzard, Hurry!!

Glad to know that I am not alone. That exact thing happened to me while trying to get a KEI at the bank rock. Froze and couldnt CTRL ALT DELETE

I don't freeze solid, but I do get horrid lag/frame refresh.

This is odd though...when I log on and get to character select screen, my normal cursor (not the EQ one) is parked in the center of my monitor. Sometimes it will kick me into windowed mode, then I'll click the EQ bar at the bottom, alt-enter, come back to char select and all is good. Other times, I just select my character and the windows cursor disappears.

And if I'm on for several hours, ie overnight trader mode, my windows cursor will be back in the middle of my screen again. I had a similar problem a long time ago on my old computer, and it just finally stopped happening.

LOL. night before last, I logged on and hard crashed 4 times. Each time I rebooted and logged back on I was in another part of PoK, nowhere near where I crashed at.

I have been having the same problem, the last time I played I went to CB to find out if the last patch fixed the problem...zoned in and locked up within 5 min. I haven't played in over a month because of all the problems. SOE fixes one and then I have another.
I would really like to play but I'm so fed up with all the problems I haven't turned it on in over a week.

I have not had any of these issues. I have crashed in some zones but it is random. No crashes in PoK however and no crashes yesterday.

It's a long shot, but is there any chance PoK is pushing some people's video cards hard enough that it's overheating?
I think my old voodoo3 used to have that problem, or a similar one, although it usually wasn't everquest that would push it over the edge and make the computer lock up.

Mmm, I doubt it...I mean, why just now? DX9's been out a month, but people start seeing crashes just in the past week?

Last night we had to finish two different LDoN without a full group because of people getting stuck in walls and not being able to get out. We considered aborting one because we lost two people in the first room. Nothing like your monk stuck in one wall and your cleric stuck in the opposite one. I had to pull mobs to the monk stuck in the wall so he could fight them. They both had to log and go to the chat channel and buy the time they could return, half of the adventure time was over and the monk got stuck again. The only reason we were doing LDoN was because people kept having to fight mobs underground in other places.

I've also frozen a few times in PoK recently. I've got a new, high end video card. My lag in PoK is noticeable, but not a problem.

A couple of days ago, the entire zone went down on Povar.

A number of guildies have also had recent problems in PoK.

Yesterday, I became trapped in a PoK tree. (I guess I was a real tree-hugger... Lol). I couldn't cast, sit, camp, or do anything to get me out. I could /tell and rotate views. Happily, when I logged back on I had warped to a different part of the zone.

Another bug I ran into last night is with major chunks of graphics missing. Entire walls, platforms, hills etc would just dissappear and lots of time I would have to just run into white areas to get them to be visible. This was mostly in Kunark and didn't notice it in Nexus or PoK. It was spooky running accross zones using the map because I couldn't see things in front of me till I was running over them. Is this something new? I am running a Ratheon 9600.

This happened to me for the first time yesterday in PoK. It happened 3 times before I gated out. Screen freezes and only way to get out is either ctrl-alt-delete, or if that's frozen, just turning off the computer. :( Okay, I think, I'll avoid PoK until it's fixed, but a little bit later when I zoned into Plane of Water for a raid, it happened again. I wasn't doing anything, not moving, not typing and thwap! screen freezes. I ended up logging, deleting my eqclient.ini file (my solution for most eq crashing problems), and didn't have another problem last night. But then, I avoided PoK. :p Absolutey nothing had changed on my system between Saturday and Sunday either when this started yesterday.

Happened to me for the first time last nite, although in all honesty, that was the first time in ages that I've actually used a stone/book to get in, and I ploughed right into the middle of a MGB. Otherwise, I get to PoK thru gating or porting...I am bound on the other side, near the small bank...and haven't froze using those methods.

Nah. This is a stealth nerf patch. Something needs to be nerfed 2-3 times a month or they start twitching.

I too have had a huge problem and it only started last night. I played for two hours with weirdly dark and chunky graphics but thought it was just Sony fine tuning DX9. ( I have not played since Friday prior)
Then, while in exped 6, WAM screen goes blank and I can hear the regular game sounds still playing. I hit my Innate Camo hot key and "/q".
After checking my DXDiag program ( which I have on my desktop these days) I confirmed that all was okay in DX9 land and ATi-driverville, so I re-patched into EQ and played for another fifteen minutes or so WAM everything locked up.....So I rebooted and got back in to due my CR......5 minutes.....blank screen.
I gave up and went to bed.
I posted on EQLive Tech forums and was told it sounds like my Video card was overheating. I have a Radeon 7200 64DDR. I also had a VPU Recovery error on my desk top when I crashed.

Long story short (too late) I was able to play for the first two hours because i was alone or only one or two others, get into a group of 6 and the added load on the video card just melted it down.

Does this sound like the same thing that is happening to any of you?

Been seeing same thing. Here is what i have figured out. Doesnt have to be PoK, but happens there a lot. Seems to happen most when some form of levitation is on. IE SoE or DmF. It is not actually the computer crashing as much as its the Video getting Stuck. If you have a second computer and watch your character on that screen you can still move around. Because its the Video thats stuck Control-alt-Delete doesnt work because you cant see it at all.

I have to do a "hard" reset. I.E. Turn of the computer from the back. Reset button wont even work.

They will fix this eventually im sure, But it wont be an emergency patch and i doubt they were smart enough to figure out what they borked in time for this patch.

I am convinced that someone at Blizzard Entertainment has bribbed customer support at Sony to SUCK ASZ so bad that it drives everyone to thier title. No corporation could be this Fing stupid on accident could they?

I've had the same issue.. but if you think PoK is bad, try the Bazaar. Tried finding a trader in there 3 times before I got :burn:

This was happening to me in PoEB a lot last week. We had to call the raid due to the number of people freezing.

Several different things have worked for some people, but not others. For me, turning off texture caching and removing all my txc files worked. I no longer have the problem. For others, using EQPnP worked. And for others...nothing worked.

I have never really let these problems get to me too much, but the past couple of months have been ridiculous. They need to fix this ****.

I've had the PoK lockup a few times recently, but that one doesn't bother me as much as mobs halfway in the floor. Or group members who need heals.

The odd part of that one is that not everyone "sees" it, sometimes it's just me, and they don't understand me when I say I can't heal because "I can't see my target".

But, it doesn't happen often, so... I guess it could be worse. =) Even more frustrating is I can't use their recommended driver version, so I'm probably inviting more problems than I deserve... but again, what can I do?

Aye...two accounts , two pcs (2.6 P4s, fairly new vid cards, lots of ram)...both locking up tight many times in past week in POK. No problems other than laggy Bazzar.

Yea, its wierd. Havent had it happen in any other zone but PoK. Your character will suddenly just stop moving, it looks like you are zoning, but nothing happens, you just stop moving in the middle of the zone, and everything locks up, and it only happens in PoK.

I dont think its a computer/video-card issue since it never happens in any of the other high population zones like the Bazaar, or during large raids. This has only been happening for the last week or two.

If they've utlized some graphic element in PoK that isn't present in any other zone, or at least not nearly as prevalent, then it could very well be the video card ~ driver reacting to their improper use of it's features...etc. I have this issue only on the machine with my nvidia card. I never had this issue on my main machine until I recently swapped an nvidia card into it in place of an ATI card. My second box that now uses the same ATI card never has this issue. I froze just last night when I was just standing facing the nexus stone. I went in and deleted all my PoK maps and re-ran the patcher, as I had heard that could fix it. I can't say for sure, but it hasn't happened to me again....yet.

Are you all sure it's a graphic thing causing the problem? Remember back when we all had problems zoning in to GD, Dawnshroud and Skyshrine, and it turned out to be a sound related thing due to the ambiant noises in those zones...

Easy enough to test. If you have problems in PoK, try creating an (empty) file named nosound.txt and putting it in your EQ directory, then start eq. It'll disable the sound engine completely (doesnt even load it, saves ram on older systems), and then see if you crash.

Had the stairs in a couple of dungeons get sticky last night but was able to manuver out again without having to evac. As it is, I avoid rocks and walls as much as possible lately and still got stuck inside a door last night. Monday night I crashed twice as soon as I logged on in PoK so try not to log off there.

we have many people crashing in PoEb today. I happen to crash when I am moving: so in effect i made an attempt to solo rathe council man.

I think this is graphic issue. After turning down the texture detail to LOW then I have no problem.

A number of people in my guild were crashing in earth B as well. An officer suggested setting the clipping plane distance to minimum.

I left mine at maximum and had no problems, so I still have no idea what's causing this...

For future reference, deleting the maps did not work. I continue to lock up in PoK. Even more irritating than the lack of attention for this issue from Sony is their continuing inability to reliably detect a crashed client. Twice this week I've locked up and had the server keep my character fully active (could send tells to, track, /who...etc) up to ten minutes after the crash. This includes after a reboot of the client machine. I locked up porting back to PoK to pick up another group for our raid and had to log in a second account to tell them they needed to find another ride while I waited it out.
