SO, am I just being overly lucky or does anyone else STILL get the demands for ports to the Planes? I was in Steamfont standing in front of the Ak Anon entrance and had a 50+ DEMAND I port them to PoK............ when I politely told them to run up the path and then turn to the left to find the book in the zone for the port they told me it was faster for me to simply port them.........

YEESH talk about lazy..........

Get a list of locs to all the books, next time someone asks, say they have to come to you and that your loc is whereever the book is. Might want to move around a bit if they're nearby.

That is far too service oriented.

If someone is lazy enough not to look up this @#%$ for themselves, they are on their own.

I will tell them there ARE books ... I will give them approximate locations if I happen to have htem. But I will never, ever keep a guide handy to help out the morons that think the Hierophant = Taxi service.

I had one dude demand a port from me once... I wasn't even in his zone... I was sitting in the Nexus trying to decide where to go when I get a tell from some guy (can't remember name) telling me to give him a port. I asked him where he was and he said by the newbie ramp... I started thinking, there's not newbie ramp in the Nexus. I asked him what zone he was in and he told me he was in the field of bone. I clued him in on the book and he said he didn't want to run all the way to the book from the ramp. He wanted me to run from the nexus to FoB, then to him, just to port him to PoK, and he wasn't asking nicely either.
People like that just piss me of so much, I want to strangle them, strip them of all belongings/clothes, toss them in a spiked pit full of snakes and rain acid blood down on them!
Oh umm... sorry, was that a bit too detailed? They just get to me so much! Grrrrr!!!

I still get the random /tell gate me to suchandsuch zone. My first response, if the location is convenient to pok portals, is "take a book." Of course, there are the few times that the person needs a gate to somewhere not close to a pok book. But for someone to stand in front of me at the zone in in PoK and demand a gate to the great divide? um...hello? And then to get snotty about it because i said no? *sighs* I knew PoP wouldn't rid us of this burden entirely, but dang. Some people are so stupid.

Personally...I like the ones that threaten. "I'm going to tell my enchanter friend to never KEI you because you don't know your roll as a druid!" /reply ROFL!

Doing Yelinak last night.
Half way through we got the drake respawn and people started going down.
I die (was trying to camp out but got summoned by the big ugly dragon and smacked) and end up at bind (Tunarian Earthmelder for when I finish my damn Earthcrafting Gloves quest).
Guild calls for a porter to get the 65 rogues to SS, so I port to PoK to get them. Somehow the corpse of one of them was out of Yeli aggro range and was rezzable. So I wait in PoK with a bunch of other naked guildies, climbing up trees, hitting on the DE females also naked, etc.
Just when I'm about to get rezzed I get a tell from a guildie asking to get a port to WL before I get rezzed. I tell him I'm about to get rezzed. He says, in guild chat, "no one rez Araxx until he's ported me" !!!!!!!!!
This is at 2am my time and I've been waiting 30 mins for that rez!!! I'm like WTF MAN! I NEED to log!

The thing that gets me the most is being asked for ports even when you have anon on... its rather amazing what certain people will go to in order to find a druid.

I used to go anon when i was in a newbie zone, but after tell and tell of "Can you port?" I just gave up lol...

Also, another thing is when you port someone they are very nice about it, they wont pay (like i havent been paid for ports since lvl 39 lol) BUT when you cant honestly port a person they get rude about it..

ex.
When you are camping a mob and they ask you to port them but if you do you not only lose your camp (possibly) BUT you may lose the chance to get that item you want, but when you tell them this they get rude to you... GO FIND A WIZARD!

try this next time, you get a tell for a port or you port some one and their mean about it. Get their name(s) and then every time some one ask for a port tell them that you do not port becuase of that person and if they have a problem with it to send a tell to that person. And after a few tells you might have to put him or her on your i list but hey at least he or she will know what it feels like

I don't mind ports, overly much.

The ones that bug me are the people who send you a tell as soon as you arrive in the zone. I popped into Butcherblock the other day - at the druid ring - and no sooner had I turned to get my bearings than I got a request for a port. <em>Why would I zone in if I only wanted to zone back out?</em> Furthermore, he was whiny about it. C'mon, don't camp the druid rings for a ride, especially from someone obviously headed elsewhere.

OOOO OOOO OOOO My favorite rant, 'Why I hate giving ports' by Teaamillie Forestfaery.

For now when I get random tell from n00b_01 my response is "/join taxi" (our server channel for ports).

Before channels, I would 'quote' them cost of a port after I had already politely turned them down.

My question is this: What ever happeend to the good old days when people had to run from zone to zone to get places? I remember my husband running his necro from Freeport to Arena for guild event back in spring 99 when there weren't any porters really on Cazic Thule. It took him six hours RL time to do just that, without SoW. With the books in many newbie zones, it's easy to get around for the non porting class.

When I started my druid, I had no clue what potential she had. I love playing a druid, and wouldn't change it. BUT sometimes it's a curse when expectant idiots won't take no for an answer.

Prots go well with rouges, especially when they wbt something at the bazarr. Rolf!

With the advent of PoP, the only zones I can't really get to via the books are Wakening Lands and Cobalt Scar. Both of which, when I'm going there, its for a raid and I get ported by very nice guild druids or wizards.

I once heard someone asking for a port to Great Divide from the Plane of Knowledge because they wanted to go to Velks and the dragon ring was closer. The really sad thing, and this embarasses me for my class, was it was a cleric and when I pointed out exactly how lazy that was, she threatened to put me on her no rez list...Fortunately for me, she was level 55 and (at the time) I was 57 and epic...LOL

I actually take pride in being able to get places on my own as a cleric. Its dumb, but I do. I can even get to Sebilis with no outside assistance. Book to FoB, zone to EJ, cast Divine Barrier and jump the ledge, run to TT, then run to the Sebilis zone and bind outside. When it comes time to leave, use my faithstone and return to Felwithe, zone twice to PoK and reset bind. :D

There's a certain amount of pride attached to making it yourself without getting someone else to do the work.

I remember first making it from Felwithe to Qeynos in the very very early days (before many people, if any, were high enough level to port and nobody knew about it anyway). Sure it'd be a chore later on, but making it all the way that first time... through the karanas and such with a low power invis... was really rewarding in the end.

That first time I grabbed a blue robe (mage) and went back to stun everyone with the different colour :evil: Everyone was used to green.
