SOE takes their bad support and bad community relations to another level

Now they're burning the MAC community ('http://www.insidemacgames.com/news/story.php?ID=9606'), Actually, they have been for about 8 months apparently...

I'm glad i stopped playing EQ over 2 years ago, i'd hate to have given them any more of my money.

Article found on /. ('http://www.slashdot.org')

Well, that's probably what is in store for regular EQ at some point when subscriptions slide enough that it doesn't pay its way any more.

Quite true. They buy Macs for productivity. 8P

This isn't too much of a suprise, SOE can't just sastify people, but rather have to make money off of something. The biggest mistake SOE made with the Mac version is put everybody on different servers.

If you were playing EQ for 3 years, on a PC server, even though you have a very powerful Mac, and then SOE releases a Mac version, but you have to goto another server. Will you switch? I know a few Mac users that have 1 PC just for gaming. The rest of their system(s) is/are Macs.

If I could afford a Mac and was still interested in EQ, I'd be seriously pissed off... so I can understand how those who meet the criteria must feel :p

The thought occurs that they could always use something like Yellow Dog Linux, compile the CVS version of WineX and run the real EQ that way. (That's how I was running EQ before I quit, except with Linux/x86 as the platform)

They'd lose access to their (Mac-only) server, so bye bye to their characters. That would suck.

Why do people buy mac anyways? PC > MAC anyway or shape and MAC are kinda useless :p

I don't think the issue is that they decided there was no money in it. It's that they didn't have the honesty to admit it, see how they could lessen the loss to existing players and most importantly stop selling the boxes for a product they have no intention of supporting.

But then I don't expect them to post, "Actually, we're not that interested in EQ1 anymore either".
