Just a link from the news on the front page to discuss the news about Smedley's announcement about OoW being pushed back to solve current EQ issues.

For those that are lazy! ;)

Hello Norrath!

I wanted to announce that we've decided to push Omens of War back to Late August in order to give the EQ team time to respond to important issues that the EverQuest community is raising (specifically including the issues with Gates of Discord). We've heard some concerns from within the community that we feel are important enough to push back our next expansion and spend time fixing the problems you have brought to our attention. At the end of the day, we work for you and it's important for us to demonstrate that we both understand and appreciate that. We're also inviting many members of the community to join us here at SOE for a day to have a direct dialog with the development team about issues that are important to the EverQuest community as a whole. We've already sent out the invitations and are making all the arrangements. In addition, our EQ community managers will be coming up with a list of issues raised on the message boards so that we can come back to you with a specific list of things we're going to address.

I'm sorry if you feel we haven't been listening and reacting appropriately. We do our best to balance all of the needs and concerns you raise along with expanding Norrath and giving you new and wonderful things to do in EverQuest, but we do make mistakes. We've heard you loud and clear.

We have many things planned for EverQuest over the upcoming years, and our goal is to keep you happily playing EverQuest for a long time to come. The best way for us to do that is by first and foremost is by listening to you.

Maybe its because there is an upcoming election in Canada, I dunno, but I'm viewing promises with sceptisism as of late.

But okay, if you want to "fix" EQ then you, sir SOE, need to fix the complete reliance on 1 class out of the 15.

Lets say there's 7 healing disciplines...
- heal over time
- group heal over time
- fast heal
- group fast heal
- complete heal
- arbitration (dva, vie)
- instant heal over time AA

You realize, don't you, that one single class dominates all disciplines. One class. The best at every single one of them. It is truely putting a strain on EQ, especially with gates. Even with your "tuned" encounters it will continue to strain players as long as this paradigm exists.

If you had time you might read the 1514 post count thread (http://forums.thedruidsgrove.org/showthread.php?t=5743) on the subject, and that's just one thread of many, on one board of many.

You need to, in my opinion, spread out these disciplines amoung the 3 priest classes, with each having a second/third skill area. Shaman have slows/dots, Druids have dd/dots, Clerics have .... and there's the problem.

If there's one piece of advice I'd give you on your upcoming community session, it's this... when you're discussing, constantly have in the back of your mind the following question: "How many of any certain class is required in the scenario we're talking about?"

Seriously though, I don't think you'll listen, because I don't think you agree seeing as you want to "tune" everything to specialists.

So be it. We were in "your world" after all.

What can I say... I am stunned. They actually will work on bugs instead of pushing out a beta stage expansion.... If this is a change in mentality I may actually stay around a while to see if they do fix something.. If they work the bugs out before releasing it I may actually think about buying OoW. I wonder what happened??

I'm just hoping they actually fix stuff, instead of just talking about it. I guess we shall see what happens.
