Hiya ...

I know I'm prolly not in the right area ...

...but I'm a Newbie and wondering what creatures are "ok" to kill ...like the skeletons ...but what about the Pixies? I don't want to kill them and would rather buy their dust from a merchant. And what is the best weapon a druid can use and still be a good druid??

Does any of that make sense?? LoL!!

Thanks!

Hehe... I avoided killing Pixies too, back when I started. Turns out there's no real negative effect to doing it, but you can never really know for sure. That was one of the very cool things about EQ's Faction system (although it's not really used at high levels anymore, sadly.)

In general, if something "cons" (that is, you /consider it by using that C key) as agressive or hostile towards you, you may as well attack it first. If it's indifferent, as many things will be as a druid, then it's hard to say. By and large, animals are ok to kill. Some creatures, like Pixies, will start out indifferent, but if you kill a few of them, they will become hostile to you and even begin to attack you on sight... this can be a pain, so as a general rule of thumb, I generally avoided attacking things that werent already bent on killing me! So, stick to animals and other obviously Evil mobs like orcs and skeletons, and you cant go wrong.

As for a weapon, it's purely personal preference. Druids tend to only have 3 main options, those being a mace, a scimitar or a staff. Since you are just starting, just use whatever you find. As you start to save money, you can either purchase a new weapon, perhaps one that has some stats (like more hit points or wisdom) or you could try doing one of the various quests that are out there. Back in my day, the Screaming Mace was quite the weapon (you get it via a quest in Kelethin/Crushbone), but I'm sure there are better things available now.

Tiane,

Thank you sooooooooo MUCH!! You have NO IDEA what a HUGE help you are!!! You're very kind for taking the time to explain this to me and I appreciate it so very much. :) This game seems soooooo coooool!! LoL!! Okies ...I keep getting maces and staffs but I sell them cuz I don't know if that's good for me or not. I want to be a good druid. I'm a wood elf and my name is Soulwhispers in the game. But I'm soooo LOST & everything is so very confusing!! But I just keep killing the orcs and skeltons and keep trying to find the stuff they asked for on the quests. LoL!! I'm at level 3 and I want to stay on the side of good if I can. Like killing the wolves bother me cuz they dont' attack me. Are they like the pixies?? Oh and how do I find out what spells are the good ones ..is there a place that describes them somewhere??

Again thanks sooooo VERY much!!!

8)

Well, for a quick rundown of the various spells, Casters Realm has a good if slightly out of date list here (http://eq.crgaming.com/spells/spells.asp?Class=Druid). We also have our own Spells section (http://thedruidsgrove.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=34), organized by type, which is very up to date and contains other info as well. Use them both. Your most important spell to get is Snare, you'll use it (and the higher level Ensnare when you get it) all your druidly life. Some other ones, like Globe of the Fireflies, are not at all useful. Make use of both the sites and feel free to ask any more specific spell questions you may have here or in our Spell Discussion forum, wherever you feel most comfortable 8)

As for the wolves, yeah at first glance it doesnt seem very druidish. But, one of a druid's roles is also to keep the pack strong, and that means culling out the weak from the strong, so if you look at it that way it's not so bad hehe. They do not have a faction, so there's no penalty for killing them, and they will never stop liking you. You can actually see the effects on Faction after you kill something. It'll say things like "Your faction standing with the Emerald Warriors has gone up!" and such. Each faction refers to a group of npc's, in this case the Emerald Warriors are the greater faydark druids (it's on the sign next to your guild hall if you remember!) So it's never a bad thing to be on their good side hehe. Other factions, like the Crushbone Orcs, will always hate you, so there's no real need to worry about them. Once you get out in the world you can start to figure out what some of the faction names refer to.. for instance, the Indigo Brotherhood probably has something to do with Dark Elves. They dont really like wood elves anyway!

Dont be afraid to ask for help in the game either. Sometimes using the /ooc channel (for talking out of character) can get you results (but not usually.) A better option is to do a "/who all druid 50 65" and look for a high level druid (Storm Warden, Wanderer and Hierophant are all druid titles) and ask if they are busy and might answer a question for you. I often get tells from young druids (and others) just starting out and am always happy to help. In fact, asking a higher level druid some questions was how I originally met one of my oldest EQ friends over 5 years ago, who still visits this site regularly (Hi Xandelwyn! I mean, King Burgandy 8P )

Lastly, be patient. Everquest is HUGE, there's tons to learn, but it's well designed... there's no need to pick it all up at once. Explore and learn at your own pace, and most of all try to have fun 8)

Hiya Tiane!!

Again thanks soooo MUCH!!! You've single handedly made my EverQuest Experience that much GREATER!!! I can't say thank YOU enough! :) Thanks for the info on the spells too! And I will try to be ok with killing the wolves. :)

Are there any animals/creatures I should NOT kill???

Is there anything else specific I need to know about being a druid that's not obvious or maybe is obvious but I don't get?? I'm a real pagan in real life so I naturally chose the closest thing to that in the game and that's why I'm having such conflicts with killing the animals. LoL!!

Thanks again!! Hugs!!

Tiane is right, of course. If something is hostile towards you when you con it, go ahead and kill it. If you dont get any message in your chat window about a faction going up or down, nothing to worry about. If you kill an orc, goblin, skelly, or whatever and you dont get a faction notice, the only thing that happens is that particular mob will hate you even more. Not to worry though because they already hate you. I was never really concerned about faction when I started my druid. I just killed stuff. You can always go back later and do quests to raise faction you have ruined. Can be time consuming but it can be done. Don't be in a rush to learn everything about the game. I have been playing just over a year and still don't know crap. I have learned all the basics of course, but as Tiane said, the EQ world is huge and there is a lot to learn. Always ask, most people will help you out but expect the occasional idiot. What server do you play on? I will gladly help if I can.

Welcome and Congratulations on finding your way to the Druids Grove

This website is BAR NONE the best overall EQ Druid resource on the web.
I have hung out here off and on for over 3 years and still consider myself a n00b compared to the Old Timers..lol.

Don't hesitate to ask any question you have and we will do our best to answer it. In fact, you will probably get a LOT more information than you really needed..hehe.

Like others have said, if you play on my server I will be happy to help in any way needed.

My main is currently on Eci but I have others scattered over a few other servers so just ask.

Oh, yes, your question...hehe

The only thing I can think of that I would recommend NOT killing are the bears in surefall glade. They are sacred to the druids/rangers and could cause you problems later.

Other than that, the general rule up until around 25 or 30 is that if you are strong enough to kill it, your probably ok.

As for weapons, My suggestion is to either do your newbie weapons/armor quests or hit the bazaar and pick up either a velium weapon or dang it, I cant think of the name, but its a scimitar that drops(I think) LoY that sells for like 5-10 plat and has stats (+1 wis and something else if i remember right.)

Hopefully someone else will remember the name. If not I'll go look it up and edit.

Tiane, Lordon & jtoast ~

Thank YOU ALL for such a WARM welcome and all the GREAT info!!! I'm on day 3 of playing this game and find myself hopelessly addicted! Now I know WHY I avoided it for so long ... LoL! I'm originally just an ADVENTURE gamer (a dying breed I know) but out of boredom (and cuz I've been hearing about it FOREVER!) I went and picked this up and now I can't put it down! LoL!!

But it's sooo HUGE!!! And I've NEVER played any kind of RPG or game like this. I'm mostly a King's Quest & Syberia kinda girl. LoL! So I'm getting confused REALLY EASY! I mean I've NEVER done this kind of gaming so I'm TOTALLY CLUELESS! LoL! Thank the GODS for you guys or I might have just given up by now.

Your info has been PRICELESS and so WELCOME!! You people are really nice too! Thanks!! :)

ANOTHER QUESTION~ :wiggle:

I've been playing all the time and am almost a Level 4 but I have NO money hardly. Like 14 cold a few silver and like 80 copper. I can't buy anything good yet. WHERE do I get money???? :(

And how do I train to be better??? What makes me train so I can increase my stats??? :p

I'm using the polished club cuz that's all I have ....

And what's the command to talk to other players?? I don't know HOW TO USE THE CHAT window thingie with ALL the COMMANDS at ALL!! Somebody said something to me once and I didn't know how to talk back. LoL!!! :D

How exactly do I talk to the Merchants and such? I say Hail, "whatever name" and nothing happens sometimes.... why??

Anyway ...LOL! Thanks and I'm SOOOO sorry for the 20 questions but you guys have been just SOOO wonderful!! ;)

I play on SERVER MORDERN RASP and my name is Soulwhispers and I'm a Woodelf druid. :D

Thanks TONS!!!

Hugs!!!

Welcome 8) Lets see...

Money tips... dont worry about it too much, it comes. I'm really trying to remember... cracked staffs are good to sell for a platinum piece. Over in Steamfont the diseased rats will occasionally drop a plague rat tail which also sells for a plat to a vendor. If you feel adventurous, you can take the spires up to Luclin, and find the Bazaar. There are some things people will pay money for, many foraged items, umm silk swatches (combine 2 spider silks in a tailoring kit, note not spiderling!) I'm sure others here have some better suggestions.

Training... again nothing you need to really worry about. The skills you use go up as you use them. Once in a while, when you level up, there's a new skill that will open up to you. You should be able to see a list of when the various ones become available when you right click on the guild master/trainer (in the emerald warriors building.)

Merchants dont normally say anything, you just right click em to do business.

Now as for chatting... that's something you'll want to get a hang of! It's pretty easy though. To start typing there you can press ENTER or / .

If you just press enter, then type some words, and press enter, that's known as a "Say." Anyone near you can hear that.
If you press T or type /tell and then a name, like "/tell Lordon hello!" that's a tell. Only the person you name can hear that.
If someone sends YOU a tell, you can send them back a tell by doing the above. Or you can use the shortcut of pressing R, for Reply. It'll automatically fill in the name of the person who last sent you a tell, and you can just type a message.

Those are the 3 things you'll use the most. There are other ones, like /g for group say, /shout for shouting, /ooc to talk out of character.

Expect to be broke for awhile. It's not as bad as it used to be but money is still scarce. Rats can drop a 1p tail(as mentioned above) and skelly cracked staff's are the most common newbie loot mobs if I remember correctly.

I am not sure if you can buy them in your town or not but check the smithing stores for a sharpening stone. Sharpening rusty weapons is an easy way to increase the value of weapons before you sell em to the vendor. It also gives you a headstart on smithing if you are into tradeskills.

Your priority should always be saving up for new spells. You probably wont have enough to buy all of them at once so do a little research and buy the ones that will be useful first and buy the rest when you can. If in doubt, feel free to ask.

Don't worry too much about a weapon as you will use it less and less as you level. I spent 10p on a weapon at level 3 and still haven't got around to replacing it at level 55. Shows you how often I use it...lol. If you do your newbie armor/weapons quest's you will be ok for awhile.

You guys ROCK!!!

Okies ...so I'm TRYING to get all the ingredients for the armor quest but I can't find the coyote skull and I keep looking. Should I be hunting elsewhere?? I'm almost a level 5 druid wood elf but I've still got like no spells cuz they cost outrageous amounts right now. So a smithing kit is a good idea?? Is that how you can use like the TONS of useless stuff I get? Like the thoraxes and the scalps and etc?? Nobody buys them. I have no kits at all except for getting the armor quest. And I've still not found all the ingredients for even one of them. And are there many druid guilds?? I joined the first one on the first last ...tanare or something?? Is there a guild for wood elfs??

I will get a sharpening stone when I find one ..thanks for that suggestion too!

I'm soooooooooooooooo CONFUSED!!! :(

But you guys have been PRICELESS!! Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! :)

For tradeskill information, the main source is http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/news_page.php

For Quest info I use http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=13131 (that link is the info on Coyote Skulls btw)

Oh yeah I meant to link Alla's for ya hehe... invaluable resource for Quest info.

There are druid guilds in each of the starting cities for druids: Kelethin, Rivervale and Surefall. There's also one in the Plane of Knowledge. You can use any of them. There's no specific guild for woodelves or any races, they are just for the class related abilities.

Otherwise check out jtoast's 2 links, both are just packed with info. Like if you're not sure what something is for, check Alla's, if it's not there or it's for something you'll never use, go ahead and sell it to a vendor or destroy it if they wont take it.

Ok ..thank YOU BOTH!!

I'm soooo FRUSTRATED!!! I have the sharpening stone but I don't know how to use it. Somebody said use it in forge but I don't know what that is. How do you read the patterns for the sewing kit?? And is a sewing kit the one I should have?? And how do you know what each item does?? ARGGGGHHHH!!! I'm sooo frustrated!!

Okies and what is a BUFF??

I'll go check those links you guys recommended!! Again ..thanks tons! :)

Tiane
06-30-2004, 06:24 PM
Forges are scattered around, usually in cities. Look like tall cylinder type things with fire in em. Just right click on it to open the forge, then you put the sharpening stone and a rusty weapon in, press combine, at it gives you back the sharpened weapon.

Sewing kit... I'm not sure if the one you get for the armour quests can be used as a regular one. You can buy sewing kits (and other kits, like fletching for making arrows) at a vendor in the city. I dont really recommend doing so though, as they are kinda pricey. There are some public things you can use instead. For sewing, there are Looms in the city, looks like a square wicker type thing with a cloth over it. Use it like you use a forge by right clicking on it.

Buffs are those spellls you cast on yourself or others that have an effect on your stats or some other ability and lasts for a while. Like your Skin Like Wood spell... that's a buff. And it shows up in the "Buff Box" on your screen as a white shield type thing with a yellow background square (as I recall!) So if someone asks for an hp buff, they want a spell that will boost their max hit points for some time. Skin Like Wood does that.

Patterns for sewing you dont really read, its just an abstract sort of thing that you combine with the other ingredients to make a finished product. You can get a description of any item by holding down the right mouse button on the item. Some have more info than others 8)

jtoast
06-30-2004, 06:32 PM
ok... lets see if i can answer a few of those..lol.

1) What is a buff:

A buff is any positive spell that "buffs" you up. For example your level one spell "Skin like Wood" is considered a buff. If someone offers to buff you they are usually offering to load you up with high level positive spells which will make you almost invincible at lower levels.

2) What is a forge.
http://www.everlore.com/guides.asp?ID=12760

Click the above link and scroll down. There is a picture of a forge.

Directly below the forge (Sentence #2) gives instructions on sharpening rusty weapons.

My suggestion is save up for a large sewing kit as opposed to a small. It's not that much more and the extra slots are handy to carry stuff in when you are not actually tailoring.

Patterns...you dont read them. You combine the pattern along with the components in the tailoring kits. The books you can buy have recipes for the various tradeskills but most people skip buying em and just look the recipes up over at eqtraders.

EDIT:

I agree that sewing kits are kind of pricey. I personally would wait until you get caught up on all your spells and have a little spending cash before spent the money.

SoulWhispers
06-30-2004, 06:35 PM
Okies that's AWESOME!! Thanks!!

So I'll sell back the sewing kit. What's the tailoring kit that was mentioned earlier to combine items to sell?? Like the spider stuff??

And how do I find out what ingredients I need for each recipe to combine??

and those links mentioned above are KICKASS!! Thanks!

You're AWESOME! Thanks! :)

jtoast

Sewing kit/tailoring kit, same thing other than those specific kits used for cultural tailoring.

Most people go to www.eqtraders.com and look up recipes although I know a few people who actually buy the recipe books for roleplaying purposes. Some of the low beginner recipies are built into the new tradeskill UI also I think but I am not positive as I am not a tradeskiller.

One LAST question .... is there a place to get a map?? I know about the IN game map but it's NOT helping me AT ALL!! UGH!!! I'm lost in the Plane of Knowledge and I can't get back to the main land ...great fraydark or something? I've asked in the game but nobody EVER answers ANYTHING I ask .. LoL!!

If you go to mapfiend here: http://www.mapfiend.net/alldl.php you can download new uptodate maps for the ingame map system.

Good out of game maps can be had at eqatlas: http://www.eqatlas.com/

Also, if you are still under level 5, you may want to do the ingame tutorial, it can help with a bunch of the basics and it's a pretty good introduction to various functions. You can get to it, I believe, by making sure the tutorial button is pressed in on the character select screen. If you're over level 5 though you cant go back, but you can always start another character just to see what it's like.

Someone over at graffe's wrote a little walkthrough of the tutorial that is helpful: http://www.graffe.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19253

Oh and as for the in game map, click the button to turn off the height filter and then scroll out. This makes it pretty easy to navigate. By default you can only see a single layer which leaves a lot of blank spaces in places like PoK.

Here is a page with a pretty good overview of the map functions.

http://everquest.station.sony.com/legacy/f_cartography.jsp

Scroll down to the bottom image to see the effect of the height filter if you didn't know about it yet.

One more question ...are there any uses for the spidar thorax and stuff like that ...that nobody will buy??? How do I use them or should I just destroy them?? Sorry for being dumb about this ...sooooo much info lately has short circuited me a bit. LoL!!

I'm FINALLY a level 5 Druid Woodelf!! WhooooHooooo!!!

Now what spells should I be working towards?? I have lightening, minor heal, snare, cure poison and skin like wood.

Soooo sorry for buggin ya'll so much but you've just been GREAT with the info!! I'm playing this game and loving it cuz of you!! :)

Next to snare, the next most important spell that you will use are your root spells, I believe the one at that level is called "Grasping Roots". The easiest way - and the safest for a young druid to gain experience is by snaring and then rooting a monster and then casting a spell on it that does damage (a little bit higher you will have DoT's - damage over time spells, they will be the best for this) at your level you can use your lightening or whirling wind, just be careful with the lightening because it is AoE which means that it will hit anything within a certain distance from the thing you are casting it on - including you. So if you are fighting too close to the monster and you cast lightening you may end up hitting yourself as well.

At level 5 you will also want to have Gate - this spell will save your behind many many times. If you find that you ae in trouble, or even lost (which happened to me alot as a young newbie druid) the gate spell will take you safely to your bind point. Which I believe is just up the path from the tree town and close to the guards. Root the monster and cast gate and you will be home safe in no time =)

One thing that you should try not to kill also is the sapplings (the trees). They are not good faction and may end up keeping you from completing a very important quest when you get older - your epic, which is a very special waepon just for druids - but in order to get it, you will need to have good faction with the trees.

I believe the spider thorax and other items that no one will buy are mostly used in quests - quite likely your newbie armor quests. When you loot a NODROP item (you can see this when you right click on it) it is usually something that no one will buy and used only for quests that only YOU can do.

Keep looking for the coyote, and visit your guild regularly - if you right click on your guildmaster you will be able to improve some of your skills using the points that you have saved up while getting experience. Make sure that you train Meditate at level 8 -super important!

If you want to talk to someone who is not on the same server you can do that also by typing ;tell xegony.koldriana Hi! (the first part 'xegony' is the server name, the second part is the character name) you would reply back the same way - using 'r'

Oh yeah and I forgot to ask ...what are your guys' names in the game and on what servers?? I'd like to say HI!! I'm Soulwhispers on the server Mordern Rasp. My main characters name is Getten and I usually play on the ECI server although I and some RL friends will probably be starting some characters on Morden Rasp fairly soon. If we do I will definately look you up.

Oh and why do I have to find my corpse when I die and HOW do I do it?? I can't ever remember the EXACT place! What happens if I don't??
for the first 10 levels, after you die you start will all your stuff. After that, you start out naked with all your equipment on your corpse. If you don't find your corpse, you don't get your equipment back. I promise, it sucks to lose your corpse. I've done it.

Also, when you get higher level you will want to get your corpse resurected by a cleric/pally/necro to regain some of your lost experience. If you can't find it, they can't rez it.

couple of suggestions.

1) When you get a couple of plat to spare, pick up a "chipped bone rod" . It has a fe w charges of the spell "locate corpse" on it. You can buy em in most towns although, being a halfling, i couldnt tell you who sells em in your neck of the woods.

This spell will spin you so that you are facing the direction of your corpse. then its just a straight run until you get there. You have to be in the zone you died in to use it.

Keep it in the bank so that if you lose your corpse you have it handy.

2) Learn to use /loc. It is a skill that many newer players overlook because of the in-game maps.

If you think you are going to die, stop running type /loc(or make a hotkey) and die on that spot. Then, after the "loading please wait" ends, scroll up and look at the numbers. these will tell you where in the zone you died.

/loc will give you your location in an x/y format, for example 999.4, 23.9. There will be a 3rd number given also but thats a height reference which is rarely needed. The easiest way to learn to use loc is to face, lets say, due north, type /loc, walk a few steps, and type /loc again. You will notice one set of numbers changed. Ff you turn east, the other set will. once you get used to doing it, you can make a /loc hotkey and spam it while you are running to easily find your corpse.

3) For those times when you just KNOW you are in the right area but still cant find it, it might be stuck in a tree, in a mountain, etc. What you do then is make a hotkey that says /corpse and run around spamming that hotkey. If you get close to your corpse, it will drag it to you whether you can see it or not. This is also helpful if your corpse happens to be sitting under something you really dont want to fight. You can invis yourself and get close, click that button a few times, and drag your corpse to a safer spot.

4) If you STILL can't locate your corpse, see if you can find a friendly bard/necro/shadowknight to help you. They have a song/spell to help locate corpses.

5) If all else fails, Necro's and Shadowknights can also summon a corpse from anywhere in the zone in extreme cases. This is a handy thing if you end dead after a 2 hour trek to the bottom of some deep nasty dungeon.

EDIT:

My personal choices for low level spells:

Level 1 Must have as soon as possible

1) Snare. You will use this spell and its upgrade from level 1-65 and use it A LOT.

2) Burst of Flame-your first nuke.

3) Skin like wood -Your first buff

4) Minor Healing

5) Flame Lick-your first dot/debuff. lowers mob ac. not a lot but helps.

Level 1 nice to have
1) Panic Animal..nice to use to handle animal adds. just remember when it wears off it will come back and probably have friends. be ready or be at the guards. This jumps up to "must have" if you think you will be grouping with melee partners at this level.

2) Endure Fire

the rest of level 1 I never waste my money on.

Level 5 Must have

1) Burst of fire. Nice upgrade to your nukeing power.
2) Harmony-lets you hold camps that would normally kill you.

Level 5 when you can afford it.

1) Whirling wind-resists too much for me to consider it a must have until later. others will disagree.
2) Gate-many will consider this essential. I don't until you get high enough to start losing experience. I would rather keep swinging on the off chance i would win at low levels since dying and gating put me in the same spot.
3) Grasping roots-some will consider this essential. Until you get your first damage shield I consider this optional.
4) Resist fire.
5) Invoke lighting- you do too much melee at low levels for this to be real effective as i always hit myself with it :P
6) Camoflague- nice for traveling through dangerous zones but not essential if you are not going anywhere.

Rest you need but no hurry and you can probably even skip ward summoned. I always buy it out of habit but dont think I have ever used it.

Level 9

1) Light healing-ALWAYS ALWAYS buy your heal upgrades first.
2) Ignite- another nuke upgrade.
3) Shield of thistles. Combined with root this is a must have. Root the monster, thorn yourself, let him beat on you, safely step back and heal if you need to. its called Porcupining.
4) Firefist. Some will call this optional. I have never done the math but I notice I hit for full damage much more often at lower levels with this buff running.
5) Thistlecoat- Doesn't do a ton of damage but when porcupining every point of damage and every little bit of ac helps.

Level 9 When I get around to it spells
1) Endure breath
2) Endure cold
3) Strength of Earth. Nice buff but not a huge enough damage difference to call this one essential.
4) invis to animals. situational usage. nice to sit on the plains without the damn cats attacking you.
6) treeform. situational. gives you a slight regen but you cant move. fun to play with.

6) whatevers left.

Yes, a /loc hotkey is quite handy. If you havent figured out how to make hotkeys, it's pretty easy. In your main buttons window, the one that has sit/stand, camp, etc, there's 4 tabs on the top. The far right one is the tab for Socials. You'll see a bunch of premade hotkeys there, which you can click-hold and drag to your hotkey banks (at the bottom left of the screen... the hotkey banks are used with the numbers on your keyboard.) You can change the socials or a blank social by right clicking on it. Brings up an edit box, and you can change it to whatever. I have one titled "Location" and the only thing in it is /loc. When you press ok you have a new social button. You can then drag that down to your hotkey bank for quick access.

And 2 very important suggestions above! At level 5 get Gate! And at level 8 train Meditate!

hehe Meditate.

My first time through I didn't know to train. I was level 20 something before I found out about that.

And can I change my clothes at all?? I HATE the way I look!! It's BORING!! LoL!!

Damn, I wrote that long ass post above and forgot to answer this part...lol.

Different armour items have different graphics. Most Druid stuff has a leather look but there is some chain out there also.

So what level are you at now SoulWhispers?
As if the above suggestions and advice were not enough, I might also recommend you give Luclin (particularly Paludal Caverns) a looksee. There is a newbie side that is very easy to level up on (much easier than crushbone IMHO). I leveled up my Druid from 5 to 24 just in Paludal Caverns (without being twinked I might add). Of course, if you decide to stay in Greater Faydark to finish your newbie armor quests I can understand that as well. Crushbone, I believe, has the same experience bonus modifier as Paludal Caverns.

Even though you may be above level 5 now, I thought I'd let you in on a little secret. The absolute best (IMHO) experience and money is by doing the Deliver Mail Quest between Freeport Bard Guild and Kelethin Bard Guild. Just for fun, I created a High Elf Chanter on Morden Rasp and went thru the tutorial which got me to level 2. Then delivered mail between freeport and kelethin using the plane of knowledge as my bind point (using the soul binder). Since you can't lose experience until level 10 (or is it 11?) you can just do a ghetto gate by attacking a random NPC (non player character) after you have given your mail pouch to the appropriate quest NPC and BAM, you're back in PoK ready to run to the other city. The experience is fast, I went from 2 to 5 very quickly and made about 20 plat. Just enough to buy a semi-decent magical weapon. Of course, my skills are lacking but then I made an Enchanter and we're not known for our meleeing abilities. Hehe.

If you need to look up the quest, you can find it HERE (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=444)
