I called SoE and asked customer support. My old account is recoverable but they couldn't tell me whever my deleted Tuved was recoverable. They said that was an in game issue and gave me an email to send the question to. It's been deleted for 15 months. Anyone have any experience on reviving deleted characters?

I have heard of deleted characters being recovered many many times.. however not after that long of a time. I would say chances of getting him back are pretty good. Good luck.

I have heared of them being restored within a few days, but it might be difficult to find a 15 month old backup, I would think it would not be possible.

I would think you should still be able to get it.

Depends on how they "delete" things.

Do they actually remove it from the database or do they simply put a "deleted" flag next to the character entry? I would think they would simply put a flag there and only actually physically remove the entries when they need the space.

Either way, let us know, I'm curious if it is recoverable.

Good luck!

having just reactivated my account after 3 years I can tell you that everything is still here. My toons, their gear EVERYTHING> I had the same problem you are having on a different game, Dark Age of Camelot. Assuming EQ stores characters the same way DAOC does (and it kind of looks like they do) it depends mostly on one thing:
Did you create a character over that character?
If you did then no it probably won't be entirely recoverable.
If you didn't then yes, even now it should be recoverable.
How do you tell if a toon you made after deleting that one is recoverable? I don't know exactly for EQ but basicaly the way everything is stored is your account is a "chunk" of memory in one of their databases, it stores references to another database which houses characters. USUALLY (because the toons take up virtually no room which is why they don't delete old accounts) they don't overwrite the place your old toon was stored. So if you deleted the character and then never created a new one I'd say your chances are pretty good that it's recoverable, but for the love of all that's holy DON'T create a new character until you find out that your deleted character is truly gone.

Please don't try to argue this with me cause I already said I don't know for sure, I'm just telling you what multiple other MMORPG companies have told me about the way they keep their records and because none of this takes much room to store almost all companies do it the same way, or at least similarly. I know where I work, even though it's an international corporation no e-mail is even truly "deleted" it's just bad business practice. Besides, my account was still here 3 years later. :)

Anyways, good luck with it.

It's usually kept in their DB, Tuved, but you gotta get a real GM or CSRep to do a restore for you.

In that guess I would suggest the Customer Service Chat. It is normally a quick response and fairly effective. As far as I can tell it is the most effective way to communicate with them.

you can, if you did not create another one with the same name and did not fill up all your character slots.

Hard to say, but I know I still get invites back to AO and DAoC with my original char and gear. I would assume its possible. Of all the changes that have been made in the game I still have some old chars on the Test server I made 5 years ago.

SoE doesn't delete anything anymore. You just need to speak to the right person. Which is the hardest thing.
