I've been working on soloing the ring quests for fun, and the only one I've been wondering about is #7. Several guides talk about aggroing Corbin out of harms way and feigning him off in Dobbin's presence, but I'm wondering if I should just skip the hijinks and kill all the giants and orcs instead. I'll probably have the assistance of a hasty griffon, unless a rhino is a better idea.

Any suggestions?

So far I'm only on Ring 2 (Boridain doesn't like wolves! Silly little blighter) but I don't see a problem solo until 7.

7 is hard to do solo.. I duo'd my 8th ring in two days with a monk. 8th is soloable btw... 7th would be hardest... if you're a skilled soloer.. go for it... but its tricky for sure.

Remember that egress clears aggro too...

Aye, I was wondering if I'd have time to do that and then get back to Dobbin for the hand-in. Has anyone actually done this?

In any event, the only thing I lose from failing is the key, and there's more where that one came from. =)

EDIT: Just tried it, works fine.

The dwarf actually hangs around for a long time (at least he did for me when I was doing the 7th ring for my beastlord). Rather than just waiting for the giants to despawn I AE rooted them and burned them down one at a time. I had time to run all the way back, loot the corpses, and /poke the dwarf for a couple minutes before he started moving again. Not that it would have mattered since there's no more fighting at that point.

I did the 7th solo, was quite easy really, when the giants popped i aggro'd the dorf and trained him away (giants never aggro'd me or the dorf). Then i rooted the dorf, camped and logged right back in and followed the dorf once root wore off. I also bound myself at the spot he walks to incase i needed to get back quick.

I did it kinda backwards.

I aggroed Corbin to run him to Dobbin, Egressed, ran back to do the turnin, and then rounded up all the giants and orcs and killed them.

Just need to find Gloridain up and I'm done.

Finished #8 last night, all solo, and with the exception of #7 I fought all the battles and won them (no "cheating".)

Was fun! I actually think I can win #7, too, so going to try it again. Hehe.

I have done the first 8 rings solo several times and I alway do what Athunder says: aggro Corbin, run him north away from the ambush, root and camp out.

Works perfectly every time. You have time after the turn-in to round up the giants and orcs and take them out one by one, to prevent them terrorising the zone.

I'm talking about re-doing 7 without the aggro trick. I think I can fight all the giants and orcs and win without Corbin getting killed.

If it works, I'll post the technique.
