ok, I've played Ever Quest for the ps2 but never for PC. I know EQ II is coming up in November for the PC which I want to play. But I wanna start playing the PC version to kind of get caught up on how things flow. I've been looking at the different packages and I'm now looking at EverQuest: Platinum. It has like 6 expansion packs
EverQuest Classic ,
EverQuest: The Ruins of Kunark ,
EverQuest: The Scars of Velious ,
EverQuest: The Shadows of Luclin,
EverQuest: The Planes of Power ,
EverQuest: The Legacy of Ykesha ,
EverQuest: The Lost Dungeons of Norrath , and
EverQuest: Gates of Discord

Any thoughts or advise on this package? Would it be wise to load all them then start playing?

EQ for the PS2 is probably more like EQ2 than EQ is.

If I were going to start today the Platinum edition would be the way I would do it.

Save a ton of money. The downside is that if you are planning on jumping ship when EQ 2 is released you are going to end up with a ton of content/zones you will never see as you will never reach a level high enough to enter.

You will be completely caught up until the Omens of War Expansion gets released.

And Lotharun is correct, from what I have read, the flow of EQ2 is totally unlike the Original EQ.

But is loading the packs all at once the way to go?

It depends on how long you think you'll be playing and how far you think you'll go. EQ is a VERY slow game to progress through. It's certainly cheaper than buying them separately. Even though you might not get to see all the content, each expansion usually had something to entice people to buy it anyway, like extra bank slots or teleportation conviences. /shrug

yes if you are going to llay load them all. You never know what zone you may want to go fight in and if you do not have a certain expansion loaded you might not be able to go to said zone.

Just load them all if you are going to play.

I'm not sure you have a choice of whether or not to install all of them in the Platinum Pack. If it's like earlier packs, you load all or none. There's no reason not to load them all anyway, unless your hard drive is full, so I'd go ahead. You definitely want Planes of Power loaded anyway, so you can travel easily :)
