Hello,
I've been trying to find a good program to help me manage my emails. I have three different accounts at work that I have to keep track of. Is there a program that I can use that will help me keep them together? I don't like having two instances of Eudora and one instance of outlook open.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to these things. I thought I'd defer to the experts.

Thanks in advance!

Well I am not sure what you mean exactly, but you can manage all 3 with Outlook. I add the mail accounts and set message rules to forward them to directorys based on what email address they were addressed to. I put in a few to delete the small ammount of spam I get too. That's how I manage my email accounts. The only thing I worry about is catching the latest virus with Outlook.

Eudora does a reasonable job handling many email accounts too... I have a couple and have been using Eudora for em for years, just have to set up a new Personality for each account or some such thing. Then if you wanna keep the received mail in seperate folders you just make a filter based on the To: field.

As far as I'm aware, Eudora can't retrieve mail from an Exchange server account, which is one of the accounts in question, I'm guessing.

If that's the case, you're kinda stuck with Outlook, but as oddjob points out, you could use Outlook to check the POP/IMAP accounts Eudora is handling for you (Tools - Services - Add - Internet Email) and use filter rules to sort them into the appropriate mailboxes.

Unless you have a Mac, in which case you can use Entourage. Or if you have Linux, you might look into Evolution.

Ah. O.k. Thank you. As I said, I am kinda dumb when it comes to doing these things. Unless it's spelled out, I don't know how to do it. I would ask our computing center but they aren't very helpful, plus it takes them months to answer your questions.

Thanks a bunch!

If not for the exchange server thing, I'd sure recommend Eudora. Been using it for years and at one time I had 7 email accounts to track - worked like a charm all that time :)

If you stick with Outlook, make sure you have all the up-to-date security patches and such :(

Unless it's spelled out, I don't know how to do it.

With Outlook Express 6

Tools -> Accounts. Add -> Mail
Enter in the information such as server, username, and password.
Repeat until all 3 accounts are added.

Your email should work now, every message you get is going to arrive at the inbox though. If you recieve alot of email it's nice to organize it a little with message rules.

Right-click on Local Folders and goto New Folder. Enter a name such as work, home, alias...
Tools -> Message Rules -> Mail
Click on "Where the To line contains people" in the bottom box it should say in blue " contains people " click it and type in your work/home/alias email (myworkemail@mywork.com) click add. In the middle box click "move it to specified folder" in the bottom box it says in blue " specified folder " click it and select the correct folder (work). Click ok and you now have New Mail Rule #1.
Repeat the steps for your other email address, just changing the email and what folder to foward it to.

Hope this helps.

...unless you're using Outlook (not Outlook Express), which is likely if you're connecting to an Exchange server. Then it's: Tools - Services - Add - Internet E-mail. Fill out at least the General and Servers tab, click Ok, and Exit and Logoff from Outlook and restart. If you have two accounts to add, you can add them both before restarting.

Then make a new folder somewhere and add a new rule (Tools - Rules Wizard) to send all messages with the email address in question in the To: field to that folder. The easiest way to do this is probably to add a rule with specific addresses or people in the To: field, and then make a custom address in the Address Book which matches your POP email address.

Repeat as needed.

Most Exchange servers allow POP3 download by default (assuming E2k and above). By default that pulls all mail off the server though (unless you change your settings) which kind of negates Exchange's portability.
