Dear warcrafters,

Quickly something about myself;
I'm a 17 year old male from Amsterdam, Holland.
Student in multi-media (high level approach).

First; This is my post #1, and I'm glad to write it :wavey:!
I'm a newby obviously and a soon-to-become addict. Hehe...

Second; I must note, I really admire Blizzard for this tremendous amount of efford, required to create a totally new world, they should get a nobel prize for it or something!

Third; Let me constantate, this is my first post, first day of playing and first few levels. So I don't have any experience what-so-ever.

Some topics to discuss, thrown at your feet (:)); As a newby, I wonder about things (which I've done some research on) like how will it be after level 40-50-60 to be playing as a Druid, will you have more or less fun compared to other races? And what about the guilds, do players need Druids in their guildes, do they like playing with Druids, etc.

Are there any kind of things that you experienced Druids are bothered about maybe? Or is being a Druid just the greatest way to go? :)

Also I'm curious about what servers people (here) play on. But mostly I wonder about other noob-Druids, who are going through the same things as I do.

Everything is welcome, noob or talent! :texla:

Hope to hear from you,

DragonBreath

Being a druid leveling up is a lot of fun. Its probably the best for solo play as you can do just about anything, once you figure out how. Very few quests will require something you can't do alone (instances being the exception).

Your game changes every 10 levels pretty drastically going up. You get bear form at 10, cat form at 20, travel form at 30, and dire bear (and possibly moonkin) at 40. [and aquatic in the teens, see the quest description in these forums]

Druids are probably the outright best race there is for the Warsong Gulch Battleground. Its capture the flag, so the speed of travel form, and the stealth of cat form really have a chance to shine (not to mention we can shift forms to break most forms of movement impairing effects).

At the moment, as I am sure you've read on this site, at the end game (after you reach the level cap), most of the highest game content is in 40-man raid zones. In those big groups it is very important to stay organized and for everyone to know their role. Traditionally druids role in these groups has been healers, and to a large part that is still expected. However, more and more druids are proving they can be good at other roles as well and are trying to establish other group dynamics in raids. The frustration encountered by some druids when they find resistance to their efforts to redefine their role would probably be considered a negative.

I still think its the greatest way to go, and welcome to The Druids Grove.

Welcome to TDG! The best place (imho) to learn about your druid. I will tell you that I level faster as a druid than any other class...and i've played many classes (mainly casters). If you want to PvP then druids are great for that....and they own all in the 30-39 for sure!

Druids are looked for for guilds/raids. They are one of few classes that can heal...so the groups will usually expect that of you unless there are priest...then you are back-up healing and back-up damage.

You will learn alot about your druid as you level. I personally like Feral best (especially for leveling/PvP). You really need to kinda play with your druid a bit and then see how you play best before you decide on a direction for your talent points.

Druids are one of my favorite classes to play....but I also enjoy the warlock, mage, and priest. The thing I like most about the Druid is I can play caster when I want or I can toy around with cat form (rogue) or bear form (tank). Although I don't enjoy rogues, hunters, or warriors as much I can still play around with them when I feel the need by having my druid.

There is alot of helpful information on the forums...and just remember the whoel time is a learning experience....I learn new things about my druid all the time. Don't be afraid to ask questions....we might have been there at one point. Just enjoy the game!

I have played several characters like most people, both horde and alliance, however my NE druid is the only character I have taken to lvl 60. My opinion is that the Druid is THE most dynamic class in the game because you can do so many different things, and you can do them quite well.

Alot of people will tell you that Druids are second best at everything and that may or may not be true, however a total package druid that is played well is awesome, no matter what spec you decide to go with.

It is true that the way things are right now, ten times out of ten, people will want you for your healing because they have yet to grasp the concept of the druid class. Mainly this is caused by the general lack of healers at any given time and its also caused by people that try and play their druid without using all the skills you are given.

Druids are good for both pve and pvp becasue you can do it all. Heal, tank, dps, and crowd control are all tools in your bag it will just take you some time and levels to learn when and where to use them.

Like my simple sig says, "Dont be a cat, dont be a bear, dont be a caster, be a Druid". In my opinion once more druids themselves grasp that concept and show people what we can do, we Druids as a class will get more respect.

When speaking of druids and WSG, don't forget Track Humanoids to help find their flag carrier or to track their rogues sneaking up on your flag carrier.

Druids are complex. Druids are underappreciated. You will have to work hard at it. Only other class which I think is as complex are Warlocks.

Too true, I also use it when bursting out of their flag room with dash, to see which way I should break across the field before shifting to travel.

Any guild will be happy to have a druid, as we can do (almost) anything in any group at any time. And we are one of three classes that can heal, and we do so well. There is always a shortage of healers in the game, and people will be always willing to group with you if you are willing to throw some heals their way.

One thing that can get frustrating is being asked to heal all the time. I personally don't mind it, as I have no problem telling people "no thanks, I dont have time" if I don't want to heal for them. Though personally I find healing fun, and love the fact that people are always asking me to come party with them. I have been asked a few times to dps or tank for a party, and being a feral build LOVED that. I have been the main tank for many groups in almost every instance, and done so just fine.

Druids rock. You will love it :)
