Blizzard has officially confirmed/announced the new Alliance race for The Burning Crusade via the New York Times website here. (http://www.nytimes.com/e3)

Since they posted the link on the WoW.com front page moments ago the nytimes.com site has become pretty much unreachable... So I'll spoil it for you.

The new Alliance race is... Draenei. Not the Fallen Draenei you see in the Swamp of Sorrows, but more as they were in WC3. Big, bluish, tails, a sense of strength etc.

I am assuming it means flying mounts like griffons hyppogriffs and wyverns are flying mounts now.

the new flying mounts will only work in the new expansion world though. :)

Yeah. I knew it had to be Draenei when considering the horde and alliance cosmetic balance. I was hoping for Pandaren but it wouldn't have been a reasonable new race for the race they were looking for.

I'm still hoping for Pandaren someday...

I would trade Blood Elves and Trolls straight up for Draenei atm.

Yeah. Personally I would rather we get the 'less appealing to the eyes' class. I would trade Blood Elves for Draenei ANY day. I love it that way. More space on teh horde :) . Now with the arrival of the expansion I guess the horde will have more whiny immature fgts the alliance keep talking about. :(

I think they made the Draenei too good looking and more people will want to play them than another elf and perpetuate the imbalance issues.

I was very pleasantly suprised that at the look of the Drainei. I'm glad we didn't get the retarded looking mofo's in the Blasted Lands... Now the horde get to deal with the pre pubescent legolas wanna bee's... I just hope the racial abilities are matched... b/c In my opinion the horde racial abilities are used far more often than the alliance ones (with the exception of shadowmeld)...

Nonsense. I have a gnome mage, and Escape Artist has saved my life more than a couple of times. The Alliance racial abilities ARE used, but they're not as handy as the Horde racial abilities.
