This is gonna come as total BS to some of you but I just really hope atleast one person listens to what I gotta say.

I am a 60 Balance druid on Eredar. Ive been balance since beta etc. Enough of that anyway I have always loved messing around with my gear and I have never had enough bag space. And I had pretty much met my max +dmg/healing at the time around +300-400 even beat nef etc outdamaging mages and stuff in MC.

So one day im walking around moonkin had just been released and I was having fun with imp thorns and such and I thought "Hey what would happen if I took 3 pieces of cenarion the essence of eternal flame trinket (13 dmg per hit trinket drops of rags) and about 10k worth of armor with all the int and spell gear I can fit?

So I tried it and it worked so well VS rogues and warriors since the 51 damage per meele swing on me owned fury warriors and fast dagger rogues. So after having fun with the build I made a really really long post about the build and named it "Panzerkin" Because a panzer tank was a fast moving lethal tank with good armor and +moonkin = panzerkin.

So a couple months later I log on after a long break and see panzerkin being used. Of course I was shocked as it was something I expected to be ignored and forgotten instantly. I was rather excited as well to see something I had named lived on as well.

The only problem? The entire concept of the name was destroyed...I mean now its a melee thing? That totally goes against the whole concept of being a balance druid! I mean sure if you wanna try and use meele weapons as a moonkin go ahead...but could ya use a different name?

I mean how does that even make sense, panzers are ranged armored weaponry. Meleekins have almost no armor, are loaded on strength and rely on melee attacks that has nothing to do with panzer tanks!

Bah /rantoff

and <3 to the druid community you guys will forever be my brothers and sister :)

So, you are saying that you invented the "panzerkin" word?

Gratz! I guess. :p

When I played as a moonkin I considered myself a panzerkin. I had the high armour, but I did not focus on strength at all. My focus was still on int and spr w/ +dam and healking gear all being leather. I would open with a barrage of spells once the enemy closed go to melee to take advantage of OOC procs. If I had ever been fortunate enough to get the hand of edward the odd it would have increased the usefulness of meleeing. What use is high armor if you aren't getting hit.

Yeah, I think the big misconception with the panzerkin concept now, is that if you mention you melee in moonkin form, people assume you are nuts.

Just because we melee, does not mean we pick high str gear over +dmg gear, it usually means we have ooc, and rather than spend mana kiting a mob we let it close after the initial volley and trade blows while renewing MF or the occasional 1 sec wrath. It conserves mana, helps the whole high armor and improved thorns thing make sense, and frankly is hella fun.

We recognize we have no melee skills, our dps would likely be higher if we could avoid interruption adn burn down from range. That is just not always feasible.

Gratz if you invented the name. I think many people had similar ideas as yours and there was no originator. The most obvious comparison to mages is they are glass cannons, and with our plate equivalent armor a comparison to a heavier armored piece of artillery was inevitable.

If you put any stock in the "leaked" talents moonkins are getting interrupt protection and more AP from int in the expansion, so someone at Blizz was probably thinking melee.

I meeled in moonkin as well when I had Omen but I didnt RELY on it or get +strength.

The only reason im mad is because people took the concept of butchered it applying it to something it 100% is not.

The requirement for Panzerkin is high armor and high damageshields with some decent firepower, these +str builds dont even ask for high armor or damageshields its just "Hey lets see how high my white damage can get!"

agree 100% with gwmort...I never really see people doing high str builds for moonkin/panzerkin, i think gwmort said it perfectly with how panzerkin works
