Every other PHP board I visit has a "new posts since last visit" button/link. But I can't find it on this board. I see the per-thread link (green arrow), but I'm looking for a "new posts" across the entire WoW forum. It makes reading these boards so much easier.

Above and to the right there is a "User CP". Left click that and then click "New Posts".

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I didn't think it would be on a menu. I typically see it as a standalone button/link.

Unfortunately, in my experience it doesn't seem to work very well. :(

It is all I've ever used on multiple php boards for years. Never noticed anything weird about it. In fact, it is now my only link to this site.

The key is to use the pull down menu on your browser's back button when you want to view your "current" list of new messages. If you re-select show new after view/replying a long thread, you will "lose" some posts.

Hm. Well, what I usually do is open the 'master list' of unread posts and then open them all in new windows where I read/reply. Then I go back to the 'master list' and click refresh.. but it still shows some as unread. I keep having to manually 'mark forums read'. Maybe it's a quirky browser thing, I'm using FireFox most of the time.

The Marking Threads as read is a dumb feature added within the past year or so to php boards. In the old days, you could (optionally) have everything marked as read when you left the site. Now it requires manual intervention. Sort of stupid.

On this board it is not much of an issue because the posting count is quite low. But on busy boards where you have dozens of threads (many you may not want to read) you do have to do the "mark all messages read" thing every other day or so.

Also, I always close the tab (or window) before I execute the show me new messages button again. I wonder if there isn't some sort of cookie caching thingy going on?!?! I also think there is some sort of window time to allow for clock differences? As it seems as though when you check too often weird stuff happens.
