Not Epic, unfortunatly, but I have just got to 68 and can now take to the skies!

can anyone tell me if it was ever usable as an escape route from combat?

I know it isn't now but a few druids have told me that it used to be, and am not sure if they are having me on.

If you are in flight form when combat begins, you can usually just fly up to avoid combat. You cannot shift into FF while in combat. Though, I guess, you could cat form-->dash-->out of combat-->FF as an escape plan.

You can switch into Flight Form while falling though (and out of combat) so get your DFA hotkeys ready!

Cat Form > Stealth while falling from the sky > Feline Grace prevents damage if you're not too high > ATTACK!!

An optional macro that yells Death From Above!! is always fun.

Here's a neat trick you can use to escape with flight form.

Suppose you are next to a cliff in cat form, fighting mobs. You accidentally pull lots of adds and things are looking a tad shady, so you decide to bail.

You run for the cliff, jump off. Whilst falling you spam the flight form button. After you've fallen 50 yards or so you will leave combat and shapeshift into bird form. Just fly back up again :>

**NB: This doesn't always work; sometimes you just splat.

There are very few options.

1) Cat + Dash, exit combat, fly.
2) Travel Form, exit combat, fly.
3) Jump (from cliff, zone edge, etc...), exit combat, fly.

Note, a mod like GoGoMount or something that allows you to bind a hotkey to mounts/forms is very handy.

You can bind keys to those things anyway..? With the built-in key bindings menu?

I surprised a warlock flying over Halaa once. He came off its mount, threw soms Dots on me. I flew up and countered with my Hots. Warlock kinda already plummeted to his death while I could insta cast flight form just when I got out of combat..
