These shadowy, immortal beings were the first to study magic and let it loose throughout the world nearly ten thousand years before Warcraft I. The Night Elves' reckless use of magic drew the Burning Legion into the world and led to a catastrophic war between the two titanic races. The Night Elves barely managed to banish the Legion from the world, but their wondrous homeland was shattered and drowned by the sea. Until recently, the Night Elves closed themselves off from the rest of the world and remained hidden atop their holy mountain of Hyjal for many thousands of years. The Legion's invasion brought the Night Elves out of their long period of slumber. They now have renewed interest in shaping the world, and for the first time are allying themselves with other races to insure the continued survival of Azeroth. As a race, Night Elves are typically honorable and just, but they are very distrusting of the 'lesser races' of the world. They are nocturnal by nature and their shadowy powers often elicit the same distrust that they have for their mortal neighbors.

They live to serve nature and maintain the balance between the wild things of the land and the restless spirit of the elements. Despite their enormous size and brute strength, the remarkably peaceful Tauren cultivate a quiet, tribal society. However, when roused by conflict, Tauren are implacable enemies who will use every ounce of their strength to smash their enemies under hoof. Under the leadership of their ancient chief, Cairne Bloodhoof, the Tauren allied themselves with the Orcs during the invasion of the Burning Legion. The two races have remained steadfast allies ever since. Like the Orcs, the Tauren struggle to retain their sense of tradition and noble identity.

It will actually depend in part on which side my friends want to play on... But if that wasn't an issue, I'd be leaning towards Night Elf simply because they can have a mount. Its all well and good that Tauren's don't NEED a mount, but somehow that just doesn't seem as interesting to me, which is a shame since I think the "culture" of their race is far more interesting. :)

Oh, probably Night Elf for sure. The Tauren look cool, but I'm more of an alliance player rather than horde (and some are saying that you can't play both horde and Alliance on the same Server) Also, Malfurion Stormrage was my fav character from WC3. He was the one who chose the WoW druid in the first place. :)

Well, the She-males should be roling up Cows so they can have what... 4 or 6 (How many nozzles does a cow come with?) mammaries to stare at instead of just two.

I believe that we can have more than one character in WoW. If that is true, I will probably try both and see which one I like better.

at the moment the limit is set to 8 characters/account, you can divide them any way you like across all servers, so you could have all 8 on one server, or all of them on seperate servers etc

Night Elf, it's all about the ears.

It will definitely be based on which way TSF will go, its about 50/50 for alliance and some are still thinking about it. Its hard to pick...

btw as an addendum from an interview posted today, you get 10 character slots per server and you can use them all, so... if there's 10 servers you could potentially create 10 characters on each ending with 100 characters. Also, you can only play one faction per server, no having horde and alliance characters on the same one, different servers is fine though.

Hmmm... that's odd. I wonder why they limit you like that to one faction.

probably so that your interests are solid on that one server and you don't lose any key battles on purpose

daoc does this as well... and it was a good idea for DAoC with the keep raids and all. But it doesn't stop someone from buying two accounts and going dif faction same server.

Or using AIM to talk to a friend or...

Spying is vastly overrated, especially when the pvp battlegrounds are instanced.

i couldn't agree more, however, with some sort of reward in store for the victor, this will stop people from having a character on one side, going into the battle, intentionally putting their team at a disadvantage, then switching characters to get phat lewt...


either way, it's a small thing and doesn't bother me in the slightest that i'll have to play my alt on another server.

My Primary Character will be a Human Warrior, then im gonna Have a Druid, I am thinking of Tauren :robot:, ONLY if some of my friends are Hordies too, well, I will make them :assimilat

I like Night Elves and Tauren a lot, not only because Illidan, Malfurion, Caire and then Kael are my favourite characters in the game, but also I like both of their history and their ways and how their sow wise and stuff. Though I would rather a night elf, (so my name could be 'Stormrage' instead of 'Blood hoof' [unless those names are taken]) it all depends on what my friends want to be. Right now, my main friend that's definatly going to play is either going to be undead warrior or human warrior. Though he's more focussing on human, which is good.

Tauren. Female night elves look goofy when they are fighting. What's with that bent back slouchy thing?

Besides, I want to play on the "dark side" for a change. :)

moo! haha thers jsut something about being a big cow that can shape**** and hit things with sticks that i find a lot more interesting and fun then a night elf (although i do have both i prefer my tauren)

Tauren. My friends all play Horde on Arthas. I wanted to play a Druid with them and it was the only Race who can play a Druid and still be Horde.

I would have probably gone Tauren anyway. I like their look. Once you have Warstomp you will look for its icon on other toons you play.

You can only play one faction on PvP servers due to the spying/bias issue, but you can play both factions on PvE/RP servers.

The NE Female /clap, to me, is one of the funniest animations in the game.

Try it if you haven't. It's hilarious.

I wanna be a Tauren b/c ive always been a smaller race in MMO's, now I wanna go to the other end of the specturm, plus, I find that when im fighting on my brothers char, Tauren are much more intimidating in a PvP fight than a Nightelf, they make you want to run. plus, their /silly it great,

Got milk?... i was just visiting the wow official site and there was a person that siad that all races are extremely similar at the highest lvl.. is that true? if so then it doesnt matter wich race night elf or tuaren. i f thats not true then i think tauren is better =) plus there r to many night elf lvl 60 show offs.....WE NEED TO MULTIPLY OUR NUMBERS, TOO MANY TIMES HAVE I SEEN COMRDES DIE AT THE HANDS OF NIGHT ELFS AT THE CROSS ROADS.

Night Elf FTW. There is nothing cooler ever than elves. Plus that we get to mount frostsabres. What could be cooler than an elf on a sabre? Also, the NE starting area is better, and WE HAVE GLOWING EYES! Oh yeah, and that horde has no class. Though it does suck that alli loses to horde on Spirestone about 8/10 times in AB...><

i did want to be a tauren druid but the ppl i knew had already started on allliance so i joined them and am a night elf now

Tauren all the way! I have played both Horde and Alliance....and I have to say that Horde is my favorite. My first toon was Horde...and then I switched to Alliance on another server to run with a RL friend....and I wanted to kill every gnome I saw....haha! Things started to fall apart on that server...so I just rerolled on Dalaran with some other RL friends. We get together on weekends and play at my apartment...it's a blast. So glad to be Horde again!

Night elf. I just migrated over from EQ (where my main was a druid), and all my guildmates are Alliance.

Night elf. They catch my eye the most.

moo moo moo! chugga chugga chugga! MOO MOO MOO! I played a NE Priest at launch and stopped playing due to all the people that could be out thunk by a doorstop. I don't run into that problem nearly as much with the Horde, plus most of my rl friends play horde.

Apparantly some people choose not to be Tauren because some people tell me that Tauren are usually first to be targeted by average gamers due their bigger size...I'm guessing gnomes could always hide behind bushes whereas Tauren would have the bush cover like their waist and below...

Being the good guys is boring.(you know you were all rooting for darth vadar at the end of episode 6. "Luke, come to the DARK SIDE!") Also, the tauren racial is much more beneficial for druids than the nelf racial.

me personally though, i'll never play an alliance toon ever again. so i only have 1 choice. I was really hoping the blood elves would get the druid class, but unfortunately they wont.

I love Horde... but i love Night Elves even more... I would rather be a NE becuase the Shapeshift Forms look cooler to me. I also like starting and playing in the forest for most of the low lvls. In horde u finish lvling to 10 in a grassland. then go start to desert. The Barrens is Huge and can get you from lvl 10-25+ But i'd rather stay in a forest area. seems alot less crowded. And Horde, Barrens Chat has way to much talking on my server. i keep it off until i need a grp but once i type something it flys past to the next page almost instantly. i have to ask for a grp for quest like 12 before someone realizes im talking. The NE also have the Shadowmeld Ability that makes them go un seen. So in the lvl 10-19 WSG u can go Shadowmeld and when someone is about to pass u, u can use Root and make them stay and put a couple moonfires and take them out fast. but on the other hand Tuerans ,which i cant spell their name, Has a raical move that stuns targets which is AWESOME for shamans. plus the main reason i would rather be a NE druid than a Tueran is that their Shapeshift forms look cooler... That is all....

Night elf in soul!

My first reason to play Tauren would be because I rolled my first char on allie, only to be swarmed with taunts of "noob" whenever I asked a question on General Chat. I've always found that the Horde players are a tiny bit more mature, even if it is only a tiny bit lol.
y second reason would be that Night Elfs all look like women. Even the men all have long hair. And when you try to butch them up by putting a beard on them, they look like the Police Officer from the Village People. Bleugh. I much prefer how Taurens look. Although, I do love the Night Elf starting area ^^
