i grabbed fraps to see how well it works etc, i made a movie of the flight between Stormwind and IronForge... it turned out over 400MB!!!

But it looks nice...

Yep, Fraps saves movies uncompressed for speed. You'd need some sort of compression codec to make it smaller (DivX or something, though the DivX encoder isn't free).

Well, it looks like I was mistaken. DivX standard allows encoding (though apparently not as high-quality as DivX Pro). DivX standard is free, DivX Pro is ~$20. That might be a decent bet, since quite a few people have the DivX codec installed already.
