Well, I picked up my copy of wow thursday night, played friday got 15 today. Here's my story though for sunday, followed by a moral question.... :-)

Im running around Auberdine doing all the quest I can find, and the one im on at this particular moments have me at the Ruins of Bah Al'Aran (I think that's how it's spelled, not 100% sure). Now ive been having the problem, that since lvl 1 people dont know they're not gonna get xp/reward. And most of these just seem like people trying to beat you to mob_x. Well named grell pops and im running around in bear form attacking every living mob in my path, or that just happens to agro me. This hunter comes up and shoots it as im there beating on it and sicks his pet on it. I figure ok, let him beat it down and help me out some, but then I get the annoyin "Mine" tell. You want it, you got it. I'll just take the loot.

SO my question is, if someone is dumb enough at this point in the game to not know that greyed means engage and they cant get the loot for it they should just back off or if they persist let them have it and then teach them the hard way?

Just ignore them, or laugh if you feel inclined to, aloud or not =-p

I've noticed that sometimes people are helping you out when they know you've already engaged. I usually don't mind that as long as I don't get that "It's MINE" tell. When I see that, it makes me think of a little kid trying to swipe the crayon you were coloring with :). I've had this happen quite a few times now and it makes me laugh. I just thank them silently for the free xp and loot, and call them a jackass outloud, lol :).

The true beauty of WOW is the quick repop on named mobs. Its not like you have to wait another 12 hours for your named mob to pop.

My warlock pulls with an instacast DoT. That's pretty handy for pulling mobs and if someone else jumps it, I get free xp/loot that way :)

Now that is something I haven't gotten. I did get a /rude at once when they couldn't dominate all the creeps in an area. He got a /ignore.

The only other time I saw something like that that made me laugh was in a very crowded section where nothing was remaining alive past its fade in time was when someone said "camped". Good luck on that one.

If I see someone fighting sometimes I'll shoot it with a serpent's sting to help them out.

I have been victim to the old "attack the mob the hunter's pet is going for so I can get the credit" thing. I hate that. They get the credit but the creep is fixated on me and my pet so I have to fight it. Otherwise I would just leave it.

On Lightbringer the night elf side of the world is much less swarmed than the humans. They seem nicer, too. The humans mine nodes they clearly see someone else mining. They train. They fight over creeps and fight over quest givers.

Aside from the Prospector, that hasn't happened while I was in Darkshore or Ashenvale.

The downside is the hoard think they own Ashenvale and think that night elves are played by pansies. In the beginning they would kill npcs, quest npcs and try to entice level 18s and 20s into fighting them (they were 30). Now the population there is higher and they get a regular butt beating. Its more even.

Its funny how stupid they think night elf players are. One was trying to challenge people into fighting him while he had several friends invisible nearby. I think he got two people to try it.

Yeah night elves for the most part do seem friendlier even on my server. The hunter that sent me the annoying tell was a dwarf, and since ive started a human pally to see how I like the class since that was my highest alt (62 Paladin) in EQ. Well, anyhow the people in the human areas seem somewhat rude (typical human) and no matter where I hunt finding a mob to kill is next to impossible lol. So now im thinking of running my paladin to the Night Elf newbie area's.

Wouldn't do that, Kalest... I don't think there's a paladin trainer over there. You'd end up having to run back to Ironforge or Stormwind every 2 levels. :P

I did this for a while and then found the dot doesnt tick right away and the mob isn't yours until it ticks. Maybe warlock dots are diffrent? I hate going for names and having another group shadow you then jump in and try and get first hit on the named. I carry a really fast dagger now and just poke the mob I want and then let them kill it for me. It makes me giggle everytime.
I'd be happy to help you with your mob if you just ask. It takes about 5 minutes for a named to respawn so I dont understand why there is so much competition. I've never had anyone send me a "mine" tell but I hope they do one day that would really crack me up.
Ohh and what's up with a group of people all standing around the spawn point of a mob they need but not grouping? I went to kill the insane ghoul and there was a rogue and paladin both standing where he spawned. Neither had a group leader symbol so I invited them both and we got it done in 1 kill without any arguments. Same with the Defias brotherhood missions in westfall. No need to race to the spawns just do it together come and go as you finish.
