After hitting lvl 300 in leatherworking, I hunted the auction house incessantly for high level patterns and the materials for them. I finally made a full set of Frostsaber armor and Chimeric armor. At first I built the sets because I thought it would be cool to have a matching set of armor for when I'm not in battle. After all. these sets don't have any pluses to your stats, other than resistance. Boy was I wrong. These sets of armor ROCK for instancing and soloing.

The full set of Frostsaber armor includes: Boots, Gloves, Leggings and Tunic. With all worn they give you +60 Frost Resistance and +58 shadow resistance. Add another +27 from Mark of the Wild. What this equates to is in the Sunken Temple I can aggro two witch doctors at once and never take ANY damage while the rest of the crew polishes off the adepts and mummies. Once they doc’s run out of mana they’ll attack melee style, and that’s when it’s time to be a bear.

The full set of Chimeric armor includes: Boots, Gloves, Leggins and Vest. With all worn they give you +55 Arcane Resistance and +57 Nature Resistance. Once again, while in the Sunken Temple or Mauradon, I pick my armor with my enemy. When facing snakes, poison slime or green dragonkin, I rarely ever have to worry about being poisoned.

I wouldn’t replace my normal armor with plusses to Intelligence and Spirit with resistance armor, but it’s good to have if you know what you’ll be facing. My team that I group with used to think I was nuts for carrying three sets of armor, but after a few runs through some instances my Priest noticed she hardly ever has to heal me, and the rogues are all dieing for a set of their own.

Resistance armor is so rare to find. I was lucky and got the nature resist hat from Marudon. It had the bonus of +atk. I usually go for agility but the +atk and the resistance made it so much better.

The sad thing is, I know I'll probably need/want to replace it someday but its going to be a hard sell.

BTW_ the hat looks goofy especially with big floppy ears. The only hat that hasn't looked bad is either a headband or the diving hat. Then the ears just look like radio antennas.

you can disable your hat's graphic in the interface menu.
