I wanted to start a new thread on this because it would be nice for some developer to look at this and raise the W T F flag.

So you are in a feral form and you use your equiped weapon skill to hit, even though you do not get any weapon skill upgrades while in a feral form. Ok, jacked up surely but...

When we are in a Feral Form, our body changes into that of the animal we take on, correct? So why is it that our ARMOR takes a beating?? Example: last night I was tanking in bear form within SM with some friends. In no time flat multiple pieces of my leather armor began turning yellow - degraded (NO deaths involved). So how can this be??

Come on Bliz, throw us a bone! (pun intended)

a) Your weapon skill doesn't matter.

Go equip something you have to skill in, like a fist weapon maybe. Your feral damage will not change, nor will your skill go up.

b) Your feral AC is directly based on your equipped armor.

So sure, go naked get torn to bits, then claim your armor isn't being hit.

I do find it annoying that you get durability loss in forms, but meh we're supposedly half a melee class so it's "fair".

It seems to me only fair that if our armor counts in feral form then it should take durability hits. Otherwise you could argue that since animals don't wear armor why bother counting your humanoid form armor towards your feral AC?

I don't have a problem with the concept of durability hits.

I DO have a problem with how it works in the game. Tanks take more damage. As a result, tank classes wear armor that has higher durability.

Druids wear leather and our armor has correspondingly low durability, relatively speaking versus plate and mail armor. When we shift to bear, we may have more armor class, but our armor does not take a corresponding leap. Thus, we will lose all durability in our armor long before a typical tank class would. Bleh.

I don't mind this at all.

But then again, I just Hearth back to Ironforge or Teleport back to Darnassus pretty much nightly, or go to SOME place where I'm getting rest xp, so it's a pretty simple thing to find a repair shop.

Of course, this may change when I'm 60, who knows?

I don't think druids were built to absorb as much damage as a warrior. Granted we have the capability to perform like one, but if we did it as often then obviously our weaker armor would need to be repaired twice as often.

And I don't know how different my play style is compared to others, but even when I'm soloing I don't usually melee the mob from 100% to 0 health. I open with a root followed closely by moonfire/wrath and starfire, so by the time I need to switch to bear form the mob is already down 1/4 - 1/2 of its health, plus the damage from thorns during the fight makes for a shorter melee.

I can't imagine the higher levels to be much different, but I won't know for sure until I get there.

Luckily we're forced to carry around several sets of armour.

I wasn't referring to soloing or off-and-on shifting. I was referring to the very first post in this thread which was about a druid tanking for an entire instance.

A _druid_ may not be built to take as much damage as a tank, but certain a _dire bear_ is. I am simply pointing out the problem with the shift mechanics for those druids who actually do tank in instances for extended periods of time. Porting to IF or the like after the party is not an option. In many instances the tank has been yellow toward the end of the instance - and his armor is twice as durable as ours.

I don't do this personally as I group with my Paladin friend pretty much always and am cast in the role of healer (in an instance) or dps (when duoing). But I do recognize the issue.
