If you could choose between a Hand of Edward the Odd or a Glowing Brightwood Staff, which would you choose? The 2h will give the best stats, but the hand has a really cool ability. Its hard to quantify exactly how good it is though. All I do know is that they are both super expensive!

Here are the items for reference:

Hand of Edward the Odd
Binds when equipped
Unique
One-Hand Mace
50 - 94 Damage Speed 1,60
(45,0 damage per second)
+13 Intellect
+10 Spirit
Requires Level 57
Chance on hit: Next spell cast within 4 sec will cast instantly.

Glowing Brightwood Staff
Binds when equipped
Two-Hand Staff
127 - 191 Damage Speed 3.10
(51.3 damage per second)
+15 Stamina
+29 Intellect
+9 Spirit
+15 Nature Resistance
Requires Level 49

I would use the Glowing Brightwood Staff unless I had an unusually nice off-hand item. The stats on the staff are useful for any of the druid forms, while the stats on the hand are of little use when in bear or cat form. While the proc on the Hand of Edward the Odd is interesting, item procs seldom activate when needed and are often wasted. Also the Hand would require a druid to melee in caster form, this is practical only if you are grouping with a tank that can hold agro.

Personally, I've not liked to build anything around inconsistent procs, they force my play style and stress me out :P (oh crap, proc, freak 4 seconds, what do I need? who needs it, oops darn missed it) not sure the brightwood is for me, I'm hoping I'll dig up some other staff a little easier to get at or near, I think the trindlehaven is near it and if I can land that will consider it an end game.

This dropped for me last night. I was what is known as a happy druid, especially since i won the auction for a Warden Staff two hours earlier!

With its drop rate, I think you'd go insane before you got one. :P Better just to farm cash and buy one from the AH.

I know this has been gone over, but what exactly does Warden Staff drop off? Sorry, I know I could just do a search on thottbot, but recently they have blocked access to that site on government computers. So I can't go there for another 9 hours when I get off. I just hope this site never gets blocked too. :nervous:

Warden Staff is a random world drop. Of those reporting, it seems to favor the elite critters in the southwest of ungoro. If you read notes however, it is just as likely to drop off any proper leveled toon anywhere. I farmed it off the centipaars and soloing the stegs solely for the purpose of leveling my weapons when I just didn't have time to play serious. Days I spent leveling my daggers, mace, 2h mace. Hundreds upon hundreds of kills. I truly beleive you can not "farm" an epic random world drop.

There is also a favored chance to drop off the Doctor in ZF, I've dropped him more times than I can count, nada. Go for the Unyeilding maul, you can generally get it from about 58 up as a druid, just set up or join a stealth run for the DM tribute. I would suppose you have about a 1 in 3 chance for it to drop per run it seems.

Last time I checked thottbot (which was like yesterday) the Warden Staff was reported to drop off Anvilrage Wardens in BRD 4 times which is 3 more times than any of the other world drops.

I ran DM tribute, and my first run dropped the Unyeilding Maul. I lost the roll. My second run, it dropped again. I won. My 3rd run, it dropped yet again, and my shaman buddy picked it up. I would advise trying to farm this up instead of warden :)

Unyielding Maul

(53.0 damage per second)
250 Armor

My roommate got the Warden Staff off of one of the glowing piggies outside Neth. Keep. I was upset =/

Yes, one of the glowing piggies, not even the hellboars...

My current "epic" weapon is the Trindlehaven, just because I bought a battle cat instead of a GBS - and I don't want to spend the 800ish gold the Brightwood costs on my server.

Trindlehaven Staff
Binds when picked up
Two-Hand Staff
87 - 132 Damage Speed 2.10
(52.1 damage per second)
+30 Intellect
+12 Stamina
Requires Level 56

I lost the roll on the Trindlehaven this weekend. I was NOT pleased when I rolled a 24 AFTER the Mage rolled a 39.

The thing about Headmaster's Charge is that since the staff doesn't have any int on it as base you give up quite a bit of int just to equip it so the +30 Int buff isn't as wonderful as it might be. HC like other use to buff items will lose the buff if you dequip it if you have buffed yourself with it. However if you use the buff on someone else and then change equiped items the person you buffed will still have the buff (weird bit of coding there by Blizzard and this may change in the future). When we finally got a HC to drop one of our Warlocks took it for the sole purpose of Int buffing our lead Priest in MC. The int buff does stack with MOTW, Potions and AI.

I've had no luck at all with drops, and finally just bought a Twig of the World Tree and put a +9 int enhancement on it. I figure that's 56 points or whatever in stats, which is mostly just what I look for.

You should consider farming the giant molten dude in BRD. Bael'Gar I think his name is.

He dropped a Rubidium Hammer for me. 120 Armor, +5 Strength. 1H Mace so you can still hold an off hand if you like. Personally though, I'd rather have a sweet staff. Unless you get a drop like the Book of the Dead. A IRL friend of mine won the drop on it. The skeleton summon is a GD beast.

I finally got my Finkles :) added a +9 int enchant so it's +33. The line for Staff of Dominence is way to long at the moment for me to want to stand in. My only real dislike of Finkles is that it has no spirit so I'm on a Spirit collecting quest to bring it closer in line with my Int.

From what i've heard, best place to farm lv40-50 epic weapons in general are the silithid caverns in Tanaris, both SE and SW different silithid "tribes" in each.

Even i personally have caught a Kang the Decapitator (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5958) from this very spot (southeastern caverns)

You know, it's lower level than most would consider, but I just picked up a taran icebreaker the other day on a drop. I put a fiery enchant on it and have been using it as a farming tool. It is a wicked melee tool for farming. It procs an enormous amount on both the weapon proc, and the enchant proc. the procs also crit! wow, it's not abnormal for me to farm out a dino in ungoro and get a 500+ worth of fire damage procs in the melee battle, unique weapon. BTW, I sold off my bonecrusher to keep this one, the extra dps of the bonecrusher just doesn't yeild the return of this weapon.
