Howdy all. I hit level 10 last night, hey stop laughing, and got my bear form. Now I am wondering what weapons to use. According the the FAQ, damage and delay do not matter in Bear and Cat form. Now, I am too low level for a weapon with any decent stats bonuses, and I've kept most of my weapon skills maxed. So am I right in thinking that it really doesn't matter what I used while shifted? Just pick a basic mace or staff and go to it? If I am wrong about the stat bonus assumption let me know. Link is in the sig if you have suggestions. I know I am really just too low level for most of them though.

Thanks,
Nyte

*Looks like I put this in the wrong place. I understand if it gets moved.

For bear form - all that matters in choosing a weapon is armor (some weapons give armor - see Staff of Warden, Unyielding Maul, etc.), stamina and strength. Don't worry about dps or weapon procs at all because those don't effect you when in bear form. The Stamina will help your health in bear form and strength will increase your attack power which means more damage.

I'm at work and don't really have access to most sites like allah's or thottbot. Is there anything I should try to pick up at lower levels, 10-19, or should I just concentrate on leveling and forget about it.

Thanks,
Nyte

*edit*I hate Websense. Its like I am supposed to be working and not looking up info on Games. What kind of malarky is that?

AGREE 100%

Go with something that has lots of str/agil or stamina. Armor is needed badly until dire form @ 40.

Tork Wrench
Binds when picked up
Held In Off-hand
30 Armor
+2 Strength
+2 Intellect

from the Samophlange http://www.thottbot.com/?q=210 series of quests is a pretty nice weapon for its level in bear as you get 84 armor from it - just get a main hand weapon with some str stam on it and you are good to go. I have to admit that I'm still using this at 41 along with my

Ardent Custodian
Binds when equipped
Main Hand Mace
100 Armor
Equip: Increased Defense +7.

it's my ghetto Warden Staff until I can farm the stupid amounts of gold it goes for on my server :frown:

I believe that there is something even better offhand available to alliance druids but I wouldn't know as I only play horde chars ;)

The item Turik is referring too for alliance chars is Totem of Infliction from a quest (line?) in Duskwood. 50AC, +7spi (I think), and procs a shadow bolt which works while in bearform. Couple that with a 1h and you are good to go.

I still wield that with an Ardent Custodian I was able to pick up fairly cheap in the AH to use while in bear form. I will probably keep that setup until I can do DM runs for an Unyielding Maul because I do not believe I will ever see a Warden Staff except in chat links. Gold and luck do not seem to flow my way.

Just remember that since bear form is designed with tanking in mind, concentrate on AC first and sta second. If you would like to help yourself out some while grinding in bear form, add as much str as you can. If you come across +crit items without detracting from AC/sta/str, all the better.

Thanks all for your advice. So far, after playing Horde and Alliance druids, I prefer the Alliance. That totem of affliction looks extreemly nice. Especially since we can't use shields. So far at level 11 I have a girtroot staff and a pruning knife. Soon I will be making the run to IF to train up maces.

Thanks again,
Nyte

Additions and updates are always appreciated.

You may want to consider AGI in lieu of STR. STR helps your attack power; AGI helps your crit rate, AC, and dodge rate. So, while you may not get the same point-for-point benefit to your offensive skills by adding AGI vs. STR, you will at the same time get some defensive benefits. Which, as said above, is the primary reason for using bearform.

Dude, I think we may work together!!! Lol...just kidding I know what you mean. If they would figure out that I spend more time trying to find ways around Websense than I actually would spend online, they'd get more work out of me!

Anyway, that is how I found this great site. For some reason, it flies under the Websense radar for my companies firewall, so don't change and for heaven's sake do not get a "games" rating, DG!!
