the discussion on the boards a few days ago about blizzard restoring lost items got me thinking. i did the ubrs quest to kill drakk where you are rewarded with the mark of tyranny trinket way back at this point, in the days before diminishing returns on crowd control. i used to be able to root someone, anyone really, and just blast away at them with starfire until they died. for this reason, i chose the eye of the beast (2% spell crit trinket). once they added diminishing returns and trinkets that break snares as pvp rewards, this strategy ceased to work at all, which is of course fine because it was incredibly cheap.

i did not think about exchanging the trinket until somewhat recently when feral began to pwn. my question basically is: what do you think my chances are of getting the mark of tyranny now in exchange for the eye of the beast? I obviously can't say it was a mistake, but do you think they might be kind to me anyway?

I think your chances are almost 100% to get it back. They will do a limited number of item reimbursements for each character, including quest trade-ins and even replacing lost items.

Wow, that's really cool. So how do you go about asking for that kind of thing?

you just take out a ticket under the items section in support (can't recall if there is a subsection) in which you explain why you want whatever item it is you want restored. the gm i spoke to was very helpful.

It's been months since our respec patch. The decision to get the Eye of the Beast has haunted me ever since I made it. I kinda doubt i'd be able to get it now, but I wish we could. I'd even accept a quest that let me trade one for another. :( poor me.

They let me trade mine too, swapped Mark of Tyranny for Blackhand's Breath. Did it a few weeks ago.

Now the question is do I want to give up my Eye of the Beast for the mark or the breath? One's offense, and one's defense... hmmm.

Having Smoking Heart of the Mountain, there has been about two times in the last month where I thought "I would equip Mark of Tyranny if I still had it." And in that month I have had BH's Breath equipped almost the whole time (I swap it for Carrot on a Stick or Insignia of the Alliance as warranted).
