View Full Forums : How do you compare +healing vs stats?

I'm sure someone has worked out a formula for this but I tried a quick search and couldn't find anything.

I've been quite happily using a Soothsayer's Headdress (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=17740) as part of my caster gear for some time.
On a guild raid to UBRS last night Tribal War Feathers (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=12960) dropped. As the only druid on the raid the item came to me.

So the question is, how do I tell if giving up 25 INT and 7 STA is worth it to gain 8 AC, 6 STA, +21 dmg to Nature spells and +33 to healing spells?

LOL Silvran. Same exact thing happened to me last night. I am only lv 55, but my guild decided to take me along on a UBRS run with 14 other 60's. (I got the shadowcraft belt for my feral pvp gear ^^ ).

I use Soothsayer Headdress as well (love it), and the tribal warfeather dropped. I passed on it, as I can't stand giving up that much int. The +33 to healing spells is nice, but imo the slightly stronger heals aren't worth going oom. I already have +41 to all damage and healing spells (vexing cane from zf and ironfeather set), and buffed last night was at just over 6k mana.

I'd like to hear from anyone else on this topic. Maybe some numbers?

I like to see atleast 2+heal per point of int to make the switch... and then your also give'n up hp's. I'd go with the soothsayer. Unless you have pts in improved wrath and like to nuke... then the damage/heal might make up for the trade.

If you really want +heal, run DM. Items like the Bracers of Prophecy and the Cyclone Spaulders give you some nice +heal with int/sta.

I just posted this in another thread:

----------------------------------------------------

I'm a bit more than a casual gamer and spend alot of time fiddling with my healing gear. Currently my guild is running ZG alot - that's why I joined it!

I love +healing gear. Right now I'm at 469 without the +55 healing enchant or a +healing weapon (waiting for a great drop from ZG). It is possible, no probable, with patience and a good guild, to farm DM and ZG until you have +healing gear of well over 700.

But, my other passion is spirit. My spirit, in my spirit gear, buffed up and fighting Ony this week, was 450+. I ran into the cap at 461 once.

Anyways, tell me if I'm wrong. Set ups like Cenarion give you some extra stam to take a hit (avoiding the hit is ideal, if you play smart, with luck maybe.....) and extra mana, which really only matters at the start of a fight. 30 seconds in, it doesn't matter what your starting mana was. All that matters is your spirit and +healing gear.

Stormrage obviously rocks - get it and rule. But, to me, +healing gear (from DM and ZG) vs spirit gear (from a variety of sources, some of it Wildheart) is the issue. Which to use? I'm still undecided. And is Cenarion worth a dang?

That said, DM has the two most important drops, in my book: Gloves of Restoration and Insightful Hood. I can't find anything that beats those......they rock. Go get em, tree lovers....-----------------------------------------------------------

I agree with you: evaluating the +heal benefit vs other stats is really hard.

I drag around my spirit set and my +heal set. For trash mobs, when there are plenty of healers around, I use my spirit set - puts out adequate healing, lets me drink less, and if things turn nasty, unexpectly, I have a huge Innervate, like taking a nearly 5k mana potion. But if I'm solo healing (DM), or dealing with a boss who puts out damage really quickly, the +healing gear shines. My best rejuv tics at 330, and Regrowth at 201. Spamming a bigger Healing Touch, with both bigger HOTs running is really fun....Main Tank health is less likely to take that big, scary drop :crazeye: The power of +healing gear is really addictive (ie let's you solo heal a Baron run, for example). Crap, we can't kill stuff (as resto) so we might as well get our jollies from monster heals.

Balancing spirit, mana and +healing - I have no idea how to do this in a scientific way.....:physics: Help if you have any ideas....

But, to be honest....what makes my healing most effective on a boss pull: drinking a major mana potion as soon as I'm down 2k mana, and again 2 min later. That is the ultimate mana pool. Expensive:eusa_booh , but essential to winning close fights. Ugh
