Re: Republicans tax plan

Definition of PUNITIVE DAMAGES: damages awarded in excess of compensation to the plaintiff to punish a defendant for a serious wrong. Exactly, they are damages IN EXCESS of compensation. They are NOT compensating the plaintiff, by their very definition. If they were compensating the plaintiff, they...

Re: Another Video.

Ok, took me awhile to watch with playing EQ, RL, and dinner but loved the video. I wonder how long he went on talking at the end, the kids faces at the end were priceless with them all looking around, as he exceeded their attention spans or at the very least, didn't keep them engaged. Important vide...

Re: Very Interesting Video

First, obviously you didn't notice the LINEAR line from 0-50 (5 Decades)? Guess you skipped over that? I think Bartlett needs to redo his lecture a bit. He should start by explaining what a line is, and what it isn't. And what an exponential function looks like, and how it's different from a line, ...

Re: Republicans tax plan

Who does deserve it? Really don't follow your logic. Victims obviously deserve it. Lawyers don't work for free. Missing the logic in your question. Punitive damages are damages which, by definition, are NOT designed to compensate the plaintiff for losses. They are, by definition, damages which the ...

Re: Very Interesting Video

But the stock market is considered a LINEAR problem because it uses a slope (mx) and not an exponential slope (m^x). Funny you bring up the stock market, because although the growth isn't exactly like human growth, it too most closely resembles an exponential function. This is a graph of the Dow Jo...

Re: Republicans tax plan

Punitive damage when applied correctly, punish corporations(or individuals) for profitting off of gross negligence. Malice actually, not gross negligence. But if you want to punish corporations, why should the money go to someone who, by definition, don't deserve it? Who does deserve it? Really don...

Re: "Republicans" on Social Security

The fact that he said, "Social Security would be much better...", coming from a Republican, is priceless. I'm surprised they didn't demonize him on the spot for saying that Social Security can work with out privatizing it. But again, this is priceless speach.

Re: Very Interesting Video

You fail to understand what a line is therfore you cannot understand a linear model. Maybe I should go more slowly this time. A line is defined by the equation y=mx + b, where m = the slope of the line and b = the the y-intercept. A line can be defined, geometrically, by any two points on the line....

Re: Republicans tax plan

Mabye we watched a different debate? The Democrats as a PARTY were set to eliminate them. Republicans still have a vote, and Democrats didn't have enouph votes to elininate Bush Tax Breaks while also being able to extend unemployment and other benefits. Again, mabye we were watching to entirely dif...
